NISHTHA Scheme: Highlights
  • Scheme: National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement
  • Launched by: Ministry of Human Resource Development
  • Inaugurated by: Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Sarita Chauhan.
  • Aim: improving the quality of learning at Elementary level through integrated Teacher Training.

Key points:

  • The purpose of this programme is to encourage and equip teachers to motivate and boost critical thinking in students.
  • Also, it builds the capacities of around 42 lakh participants covering
    1. All teachers and heads of elementary Government schools
    2. Faculty members of State Councils of Educational Research and Training(SCERTs) and District Institutes of Education and Training(DIETs) and
    3. Block Resource Coordinators and Cluster Resource Coordinators in all States and UTs.
  • Under this programme, the teachers will flourish their skills in various directions related to
    1. Learning Outcomes
    2. School Safety and Security
    3. ICT (information and communication technologies) in teaching and learning including Artificial Intelligence
    4. Environmental Concerns and
    5. School-Based Assessment
  • Key Resource Persons (KRPs) and State Resource Persons (SRP) who are identified by the State and UTs will supervise the training.
  • For this purpose, the Key Resource Persons (KRPs) will be trained by 120 National Resource Persons identified from National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
  • This programme has been launched in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and a total of 86000 Elementary teachers of Government Schools being trained under the programme.
  • The first phase of this programme has been arranged from 14th November to 18th November 2019 at University of Jammu.
