Q6. Ratio of speed of faster train to slower train is 9 : 7 and length of two trains is 120 m and 180 m respectively. If both train increased their respective speed by 25% then cross each other in 36 sec running in same direction, then find in what time both trains cross each other running in opposite direction with their usual speed ?

Let speed of faster train be 9x m/s and speed of slower train be 7x m/s when both train increased their speed by 25%

Q7. Speed of boat in still water is 3 times the speed of boat in upstream and it is also known that it travels 15 km upstream in 6 hrs. Then, find the time required by it to reach a point which is 50 kms away downstream.

Let the speed of boat in upstream be x km/hr and the speed of boat in Stillwater be ‘3x’ km/hr and speed of stream be y km/hr.

Q8. A man swimming at 75 percent of his usual speed in still water can covers 128 km in 8 hours in downstream. In the return journey he swims at 50% of his usual speed in still water and take 32 hours. Speed of man in still water is what percent more than speed of stream?

Q9. Speed of train A and B is in the ratio 2 : 3. Train A & B starts moving in opposite directions between station X and station Y respectively. Station X is 288 km away from station Y. After running for 2.4 hours, both trains meets each other. Then, Find the distance between station X and the point where both trains met each other.

Q10. A lighthouse is situated 30 km away from the shore. If ratio of time taken by boat to reach lighthouse during upstream and during downstream is 2 : 1, then find the ratio of speed of the boat to the speed of the stream.

Let speed of the boat be ‘a’ km/hr and speed of stream be ‘b’ km/hr.
