IBPS RRB Prelims 2019: Reasoning Section Strategy

IBPS RRB PO/Clerk 2019 is scheduled to be held in August. It is the high time for the aspirants seeking a bright future in the banking sector. Do not starve off your preparation instead of fight tooth and nail for this opportunity. Get the ins and outs of the syllabus and make the plans accordingly to be carried out. As you all know Reasoning section is the ineluctable hitch in any competitive exam. It can do wonders if practiced well from authenticated resources but also can be proved as fatal if you ignore it.

This section carries 40 marks for 40 questions also it can yield 10 extra marks for the same number of questions in the Main examination. The reasoning is a game of mind that tests your ability to tackle the questions. It requires good analytical skills and presence of mind. Basic knowledge of concepts & insights about how to approach a general problem can help anyone solve the most complex problems. Thus, leveraging one’s chances to appear in the interview and ultimately demolish IBPS RRB exam.

According to the latest trend, puzzles can cover 50% of the syllabus. If you are very good at solving puzzles then you can easily fetch marks in this section. Types of puzzles and seating arrangement which are being asked are as follows:
  • Circular arrangement
  • Linear arrangement
  • Floor-based puzzle
  • Scheduling (days, months and years)
  • Parallel arrangement
  • Square arrangement
  • Tabular form
  • Box Puzzles

This topic is getting complex with every examination passed. Puzzles may be lengthy, complex or even calculation based puzzles have been asked in the previous examinations. This topic may consume more of your time, hence required more practice and attention.

Other topics like inequality, students use to make a silly mistake in this, which can cost you lose 3-5 marks. But if your basics are clear about it, you can easily score marks from this topic in a few minutes.

Topics like Syllogism, Data sufficiency, coding-decoding are the takeaways of the exam. These topics can also help you score good marks and do not take much of your time in solving them.

Alphabets and Alphabetical Series
Machine Input Output

So students, if you are aiming high you have to be very strict with your preparation. Make a SWOT analysis(strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats. Do not leave any stone unturned for your selection. Puzzles are advised to be practiced with a fresh mind so that you do not miss anything important step while solving them. There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.
