Salary and other Benefits:
Presently, the starting basic pay of SBI PO as mentioned in the official notification is 27,620/- (with 4 advance increments) in the scale of 23700-980/7-30560-1145/2-32850-1310/7-42020 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I.
Person working as a Probationary officer with SBI, will also be eligible for D.A, H.R.A/ Lease Rental, C.CA, medical and other allowances & perquisites as per the rules in force from time to time.
Total compensation will be minimum of RS. 8.20 Lacs per annum( basec on per annum CTC) and a maximum of 13.08 Lacs depending upon the place of posting for scale 1 officer.

Note: when inflation is high, DA goes up and when it falls down, DA goes down. presently it is more than 100% of the SBI PO Basic Pay.

SBI PO will have to serve a probation period of 2 years to learn the basic aspects of banking sector like supervising clerical activity, bank accounts opening, customer service, processing or passing of loans etc. Retail and rural banking will also be taught to them. Training to scale 1 officers may also provided at SBI training institutes. After successful completion of probation period employees will undergo a screening process,if qualified employees may be promoted to Grade II officer scale.
