- The US House of Representatives has voted to end US involvement in Yemen’s civil war.

- The resolution directs the US President Donald Trump to remove US Armed Forces from hostilities in or affecting the Republic of Yemen within 30 days.
- The resolution rejects the US Presidents support for the Saudi-led campaign in Yemen.
- A Russian delegation led by the Russian Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, Alexey Volin met Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare in New Delhi.

- During the meeting, it was mutually agreed that an annual Indo-Russian Forum for Media Cooperation be organized alternately in India and Russia to institutionalize the process of cooperation between the two countries in the media and entertainment sector.
- The South Korean government declared a state of national disaster over the massive blaze that engulfed five cities and counties along the northeastern coast.
- For the first time in its 75-year history, Germany opened the curtains of the chamber of the United Nations Security Council.

- "Transparency and openness to broader UN membership...are crucial not just symbolically, but also in practice", Germany said.
- Germany also placed an hourglass in front of the council president to help speakers keep track of their speaking times.

- India’s National Maritime Day is being observed today (5th April).

- On this day in 1919 navigation history was created when SS Loyalty, the first ship of the Scindia Steam Navigation Company, journeyed to the United Kingdom.
- Theme of National Maritime Day 2019 : "Indian Ocean-An Ocean of opportunity".
- Note : Don't be confused with National Maritime Day with World Maritime Day. The World Maritime Day is observed on 29th September.
- The birth anniversary of nationalist politician Babu Jagjivan Ram (5th April 1908) is being observed as Samta Diwas today.

- This day emphasizes on bringing about equality among all spheres of the society.
- Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu is on a visit to Lucknow, during which he will be the chief guest at National Cardiology Conference 2019 being held at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of medical sciences.

- The 3-day conference is being organised by Dept of Cardiology in which leading national and international experts from Europe, USA, Japan, Singapore South Korea, Indonesia and Australia will deliberate on the latest topics of Interventional cardiology and cutting edge technology.

- Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Durga Shankar Misra inaugurated a seminar on Greenery and Landscaping in New Delhi today.

- American multinational technology company Microsoft is celebrating it's 44th birthday today.

- NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine today announced that the space agency is aiming for a Mars landing in 2033.
- The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) is organizing a NuGen Mobility Summit, 2019, at Manesar, NCR, from 27th to 29th November 2019.

- The board of Lakshmi Vilas Bank today approved a share swap acquisition by housing finance firm Indiabulls Housing Finance.

- The Chennai-headquartered bank has total assets of more than ₹40,400 crore while Indiabulls has an asset base of ₹1.32 lakh crore.
- The National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and global transport infrastructure operator Roadis will jointly set up a platform to invest up to $2 billion of equity in road projects in India.

- The platform would target toll-operate-transfer models and acquisitions of existing road concessions.
- Roadis is a fully owned subsidiary of the Public Sector Pension Investment Board which is one of Canada’s largest pension funds.
- Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has been inducted into the International Hall of Fame at the US Army's Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth.
- Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh Khan was felicitated with an honorary doctorate in Philanthropy from the University of Law in London.

- The actor also holds honorary doctorates from the University of Bedfordshire and the University of Edinburgh.
- The International Cricket Council (ICC) has sought closer working relations with the Interpol to widen the scope of its fight against corruption in the sport.
