- Today (13th November) is World Kindness Day.

- This day was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement a coalition of nations kindness NGOs, aiming for more kindness in the world.
- This day encourages individuals to overlook boundaries, race and religion.
- The India-China Joint Training Exercise "Hand in Hand 2016" is scheduled to be held in Pune from November 15-27.

- This would mark the 6th annual joint training exercise between the Indian Army and the People's Liberation Army of China.
- This exercise is aimed at honing military skills of the two armies by sharing expertise in drills while tackling insurgency and terrorism.
MOUs & Agreements
- India and Bhutan signed a new bilateral trade agreement to enhance trade between the two countries through trade facilitation by improving procedures.

- The bilateral agreement aims at cutting down on documentation and adding additional exit and entry points for Bhutan’s trade with other countries.
National Current Affairs
- A Partition Museum, which records and preserves the experiences of those displaced by the 1947 partition of India, has opened in the Town Hall of Amritsar.

- The museum is divided into the themes of independence, partition, rehabilitation and resettlement. It features oral recordings of personal histories, newspaper reports, photographs and paintings.
- Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling laid the foundation stone of a ropeway for what would be the world's highest skywalk once completed.

- Being built at a height of 10,300 feet, the Bhaleydhunga Skywalk Project will be the second of its kind in Asia.
- Aiming to reach out to more viewers in the Northeast, public broadcaster Prasar Bharti is planning to launch a new Doordarshan channel 'DD Arunprabha' in the region.

- The channel will focus primarily on the viewers of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim but will have content from other regional states as well.
- The channel is expected to start from December 25.

- Actor Jackie Chan was awarded an honorary Oscar at the 8th annual Governors Awards today.

- Note : The 62-year-old actor is the first Chinese to have received the award, which is given in recognition of "extraordinary achievements" in the film industry.
Science & Technology
- Facebook’s Connectivity Lab, the social media giant's internet technology research wing, has made a world record by transferring data wirelessly for over 13.2 kilometres at 20 Gbps.

- The 20 Gbps speed is enough to stream 1,000 ultra-high-definition videos simultaneously, according to Facebook.
- The previous record was held by German scientists who transferred data for over 37 kilometres at 6 Gbps.
- A many as 10 balloon flights will be launched by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research for scientific purposes from November 15 to April 30, 2017, in collaboration with ISRO and Department of Atomic Energy.

- The balloons would carry scientific instruments for high-altitude research and are expected to reach heights between 30-42 km, depending upon the experiments.

- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a three-year $12 billion loan program for Egypt.

- The loan will help in boosting Egypt’s foreign currency inflows, which have dwindled since the 2011 Arab Spring uprising, and revive the African nation's economy.
- Egypt will receive an immediate disbursement of $2.75 billion.
- Important Note : This is the largest such package to a Middle East nation.
- Banks have started issuing new currency notes of ₹500 denomination from today in some parts of the country, following the demonetisation of the older ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes.

- The notes were reportedly issued by banks in Delhi, Bhopal, and Mumbai.
- Note : The first consignment of 50 lakh pieces of the new notes was dispatched to the RBI earlier today.

- Golfer Aditi Ashok has become the first Indian to win a Ladies European Tour event, clinching the Hero Women's Indian Open in Gurgaon today.

- After winning the $400,000 tournament, Aditi is in the reckoning for the Tour's 'Rookie Player of the Year' award.
- Note : She is the only golfer to have represented India at the Olympics, after participating in Rio.
- Pakistan Kabaddi Federation today announced the launch of Pakistan International Super Kabaddi League with its first edition to be held in March 2017.

- It will be played at the Jinnah Sports Complex in Islamabad and will feature teams from Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Quetta.
- Argentina's freestyle footballer Carlos Alberto Iacono won the Red Bull Street Style in London this week.

- Note : Red Bull Street Style is the official World Championship of freestyle football.
