- Bank on - to expect something or depend on something happening
- Recapitalise - if a company recapitalizes or is recapitalized, it gets more capital or changes the way its capital is organized
- Reform - to make an improvement, especially by changing a person's behaviour or the structure of something
- Pumped into - to spend a lot of money trying to make something operate successfully
- Spur - to encourage an activity or development or make it happen faster
- Ambitious - if a plan or idea is ambitious, it needs a great amount of skill and effort to be successful or be achieved
- Ailing - experiencing difficulty and problems
- Framework - a system of rules, ideas, or beliefs that is used to plan or decide something
- Monitor - to watch and check a situation carefully for a period of time in order to discover something about it
- Cushion - something that makes the effects of a bad situation less severe
- Haircut - a reduction in an amount of money, such as the price of a share or bond
- Insolvency - the state of not having enough money to pay debts, buy goods, etc
- Assertion - a confident and forceful statement of fact or belief
- Allay - if you allay a strong emotion felt by someone, such as fear or worry, you cause them to feel it less or to feel calm again
- Tweak - to change something slightly, especially in order to make it more correct, effective, or suitable
- Big-ticket - expensive
- Consolidation - the action or process of combining a number of things into a single more effective thing
- Merger - an occasion when two or more companies join together to make one larger company
- Glaring - used to say that something bad is very obvious
- Offload - to get rid of something that you do not want by giving it to someone else

- Roller-coaster - a situation which changes from one extreme to another
- Attribute - a quality or characteristic that someone or something has
- Grit - courage and determination despite difficulty
- Miserly - a miserly amount is very small and not enough
- Iceberg - a very large mass of ice that floats in the sea
- Nerve-racking - something that is nerve-racking is difficult to do and causes a lot of worry for the person involved in it
- Raging - very severe or extreme
- Dispenser - a machine or container that gives you a particular type of thing

- Spot fixing - (in sport) the action or practice of dishonestly determining the outcome of a specific part of a match or game before it is played

- Nurture - to help a plan or a person to develop and be successful
- Nucleus - the group of people or things that are the most important part of something
- Evident - easily seen or understood
- Gavel - a small hammer that an official in charge of a meeting hits against a wooden block or table to get people to be quiet and listen
- Consistent - always behaving or happening in a similar, especially positive, way
- Trope - something such as an idea, phrase, or image that is often used in a particular artist's work, in a particular type of art, etc
- Massive - very large in size, amount, or number
- Bonanza - a situation from which large profits are made
- Unsung - not noticed or praised for hard work, courage, or great achievements
- Overseas - in, from, or to other countries
- Heartening - making you feel happier and more positive
- Daredevil - a person who does dangerous things and takes risks
- Bandwagon - an idea or activity, especially in politics or business, that suddenly becomes very popular or fashionable, so that a lot of people want to be involved in it
