Vocabulary Tricks Part 31: Democracy in India

March 1, 2017

Democracy is the government of the people, for the people and by the people. People are sovereign in this system of government. The core of democracy is the freedom of choice. Democracy was not possible in ancient India as kings were rulers of their own realms. Today, democracy is a hotbed of politics.
India became a democratic republic infused with the spirit of equality and fraternity. However, people are not enjoying every right in practice. Due to illiteracy, masses cannot choose the right leaders. They easily get lured by baits. The electorate should be educated. Politicians should also refrain from corrupt practices. People should learn that freedom is not unbridled. India has vested in the Election commission to control the entire process of elections.
