English section is always trickier for all of you and it's important to understand the nuances of English language. the only way to do it by developing reading habits.
The English section is one of the most important sections for SSC-CGL as it is asked in both Tier-I & II examination. The questions in this section are divided into 3 basic categories:
- Error Correction-Grammatical part
- Synonyms and antonyms, Vocabulary
- Comprehension
Synonyms & Antonyms: Vocabulary: For vocabulary, we suggest read a newspaper daily (prefer The Hindu or Indian Express) make a note of new words in a diary along with their meanings, synonyms & antonyms revise them daily. Try to use the vocabulary in sentence formation, this way you'll learn quickly. As far as SSC-CGL is concerned, you can easily prepare for topics like Synonyms, Antonyms, one-Word Substitution & Idioms/phrases. Synonyms/Antonyms are repeated by SSC in Exam. So, solving previous year papers would really help. total 10-12 questions are asked from this section.
Comprehension: Many students believe that Reading Comprehension takes too much time and thus it should be avoided. They feel that avoiding these questions will save their time which they can utilize in other questions. However, the passages are easy and can be scored of easily. While doing an RC passage read the questions first and then go through the passage, this saves time. 5 questions can be asked from this section.
Take the above points into consideration and you can easily nail this section! Also, some online resources help a lot, one of this is ADDA247 youtube channel which provides Videos for English and other sections. Practice a lot of mocks and analyze your performance there. Shortcomings can be removed only by your effort!
