Solutions:
1. B)rate of downstream = 20/2 = 10kmph
Rate of upstream = 20/4 = 5kmph
Speed of boat in still water = ½(10 + 5) = 15/2 = 7.5 kmph
2. B)Let initial investment be x, 3x, 5x. Then,
A : B : C = ((x*4) + (2x*8)) : ((3x*4) + (3x/2*8)) : ((5x*4) + (5x/2*8) = 20x : 24x : 40x
= 5 : 6 : 10
3. A)2 (A + B + C)’s 1 day work = 1/30 + 1/24 + 1/20 = 1/8
A + B + C’s 1 day work = 1/16
Work done by A, B and C in 10 days = 10/16 = 5/8
Remaining work = 1 – 5/8 = 3/8
A’s one day work = 1/16 – 1/24 = 1/48
1/48 work is done by A in 1 day
So 3/8 work will be done in – 48 * (3/8) = 18 days
4. A)Let the total amount be x
Now, A’s share = 6/32x, B’s share = 19/32x, C’s share = 7/32x
After C gives Rs. 200 to B, New share of B = 10/16x (Ratio = 3 : 10 : 3)
As per question, 19/32x + 200 = 10/16x, x = 6400
5. B) In a team there are 240 members (males and females).
Male = 240 * 283 = 160; Female = 80
Male graduate = 15/100 * 160 = 24
Male Non-Graduates = 160 – 24 = 136
Female Graduates = ¾ * 80 = 60
Female non – graduates = 80 – 60 = 20
Therefore, required ratio = 160 : 20 = 8 : 1
(6 – 10):
6. A) 7. E) 8. A) 9. D) 10. B)
11. C) “please ask him”
12. A)“these kind of shoes”
13. E)
14. C)“which was hidden”
15. E)“whoever”
