For the first time India Post Payments Bank Limited (IPPB) has released the notification for the post of Scale – I Officers. The exam is going to be held in the month of December 2016 / January 2017. India Post has received in-principle approval from RBI and approval from Cabinet for setting up India Post Payments Bank Limited. This is a golden opportunity to grab as the Emoluments is better than IBPS PO.
It has been recently incorporated as a Public Limited Company under the
Department of Posts with 100% GOI equity.
IPPB will offer demand deposits such as savings and current accounts upto a balance of Rs 1 Lac, digitally enabled payments and remittance services of all kinds between entities and individuals and also provide access to third party financial services such as insurance, mutual funds, pension, credit products, forex, and more, in partnership with insurance companies, mutual fund houses, pension providers, banks, international money transfer organisations, etc.
Total Vacancy – 650 for the post of Scale I Officer.
- So now the focus is on the strategy and tips to crack it with the time left for it. It is very important to prepare well for the exam. We are sure you would be looking for useful advice for your preparation. Thus the smart way to prepare for this is what we are sharing with you guys.
- It is important to know the exact pattern of the exam before appearing for the same. You would really do well, if you are aware of the exam format and the interface. The pattern of IPPB Exam 2016 Examination is as follows:

Note:
(i) There is a penalty of ¼ mark for every wrong answer in every section.
(ii) Along with overall cutoffs, there is also a sectional cutoffs.
Some of the Key points should always be kept in mind while preparing. These are:
1. The golden rule:( Practice makes a man perfect) Make it a habit to daily practice your weak sections (strong ones also). Practice each and every question type. This will enhance your speed also. Also you become confident while attempting the same set of questions in the exam.
2. Speed and Accuracy: It is the essential tool for clearing any Bank exam. Build your speed by practicing more and more and couple that with accuracy. Always try to attempt those questions in which you are sure of your answers. Prevent any negative marking.
3. Time Management: During the exam preparation and also during the exam, focus on the amount of time you take for a particular question. Do not spend too much of your time on any question, instead move on to the next question. And leave that question for the time left with you.
4. Mock tests: These are the best way to check your performance. Mock Tests will also help you increase your speed in solving the paper, along with smooth and easy movement across sections. While doing Mock tests, focus on clearing sectional cut off and gaining high score too.
5. Doubts: Doubts should be cleared as and when they arise. If you have a doubt or any concept is not clear, then clear it with your mentors, friends.
Smart Strategy
1. Quantitative Aptitude
Quantitative Aptitude has always been the most difficult section in the banking exams.Most of you may be comfortable in this section but never be over confident which may harm you in exam. If you are weak or average in this section then make a habit of practicing this section on a regular basis. Just plan your schedule to cover all the important topics.
Please try to practice different topics, which are mentioned below –
Number Series, Simplification / Approximation, Quadratic Equation, Miscellaneous Questions
Pie Chart, Table Chart, Bar Graph, Caselet(Paragraph DI), Line Graph, Mixed Graph, Probability & Data Sufficiency
How you can prepare for Quantitative Aptitude section – All you need to plan a daily schedule to practice all the different topics of this section. Please try to wake up early in the morning at 6 am. You can practice different topics accordingly –
Practice 2 sets of Quantitative Aptitude section on a daily basis. After practicing, analyze your score & mistakes which you have made during the practice. This exercise will give you an idea how to approach these topics in exams.
2. Reasoning
Reasoning at present is the most difficult section in any of the banking exams and we expect it to be the same this time too. Some candidates don’t know how to tackle this section and always start with the first questions or with puzzle type’s questions.
If you are weak or average in this section then make a habit of practicing this section on a regular basis. Just plan your schedule to cover all the important topics.
Please try to practice different topics, which are mentioned below –
- Inequality
- Syllogism
- Puzzles
- Input Output
- Logical Reasoning
- Data Sufficiency
- Miscellaneous – Blood relation, Direction, Ranking, Alphanumeric Series, Coding Decoding.
How you can prepare for Reasoning section – All you need to plan a daily schedule to practice all the different topics of this section. After completing Quant section, you can move to Reasoning Section from 11 am & try to practice for at least 3 hours a day. You can practice different topics accordingly –
Inequality, Syllogism, Input Output, Data Sufficiency, Miscellaneous (Blood relation, Direction, Ranking, Alphanumeric Series, Coding Decoding)
Practice 3 sets of 5 Questions on each topic on a daily basis. After practicing, analyze your score & mistakes which you have made during the practice. This exercise will give you an idea how to approach these topics in exams.
Puzzles + Logical Reasoning – At least practice 3 different types of puzzles & Logical Reasoning Questions on a daily basis. This will make you confident in attempting difficult puzzles during exam in quick & smart way.
3. English Section
Many of you are comfortable with Reasoning and Quant section but always face difficulty in attempting English section. If you are weak or average in this section then make a habit of practicing English Questions on a regular basis. Just plan your schedule to cover all the important topics.
Please try to practice different topics, which are mentioned below –
- Cloze Test
- ParaJumbles
- Fill in the blanks
- Reading Comprehension
- Spotting Error
- Sentence Improvement
How you can prepare for English section – You need to plan a daily schedule to practice all the different topics of this section. After completing Reasoning section in the evening, you can move to English Section from 4 pm & try to practice for at least 2 hours a day. You can practice different topics accordingly –
Cloze test, Parajumble, Fill in the blanks & Spotting Error, Sentence Improvement – Practice 5 sets of each topics on a daily basis. After practicing, analyze your score & mistakes which you have made during the practice. This exercise will give you an idea how to approach these topics in exams.
Reading Comprehension – Practice 2 sets of RC on a daily basis. After practicing, analyze your score & mistakes which you have made during the practice. This exercise will give you an idea how to approach this in exams. This exercise will make you feel confident before exam and you can score better in this section.
4. General Awareness / Banking
It is one of the easiest sections of the Mains Exam. All you need to cover Current, Banking (Economy) & Static news of last 6 months (July to December). To score maximum marks (30+)in this section, make a habit of reading & revising the news on a regular basis. Just divide the topics & plan your schedule to cover all the important news.
Please try to cover news from different topics, which are mentioned below –
(i) Banking & Financial Awareness – Banking Terminology, Recent RBI News like – Monetary policies, Important guidelines, SBI Bank in News, ICICI Bank in News, Committees, etc.
(ii) Current Affairs – National + International News, Sports News, Awards, Summits & Conferences, Schemes, Agreement & Deals, etc.
(iii) Static GK – Parks, Dam, Thermal Power Plants, Mountains, Temples, Stadiums, Airports, etc.
How you can cover GK – You can start this Section from 8 pm & try to practice for at least 2 hours a day & try to study GK section for at least 2 hours a day. Read it & make a note of important events & news. Revise it on the same day, this exercise will make you master in this section.
5. Computer Knowledge
20 questions of easy to moderate level from MS Office, Networking, Internet, Computer peripherals, and such will be asked. You can do all the questions if your basic knowledge of Computer is good. 1 hour daily practice will help you to master this section.
Almost all the questions ate attemptable. Only one or two questions asked are tricky one. So, from this section, you can attempt 17 – 19 questions.
Time Management –
(i) To crack IPPB Exam 2016 proper Time Management is very necessary.
(ii) Time management and Question selection are two aspects which are a part of every exam.
(iii) Keep a STOP WATCH with you while you are solving the paper.
(iv) Make sure that you do not get stuck on any question and focus on going through all the questions in the section at least once. Also, be careful with your selection of the questions in each section. You are not under any compulsion to solve all questions.
(v) Fix the TIME while attending papers. Make proper Schedule for your Study and follow it with passion.
