In continuation with our previous article, “Highlights of some important APPS/PORTALS launched – Part – I’, we are now going to provide further information on the Apps/Portals launched in the last few months.
Following Apps / Portals have been introduced –
1. MySpeed App –
- This app has been developed by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
- The app helps users measure their Internet Speed (upload and download speed) for both Wifi and Cellular Connections.
- The application captures and sends coverage, data speed and other network information along with device and location of the tests. The app does not send any personal user information. All results are reported anonymously
2. Krishi Vigyan Kendra Portal-
- The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Radha Mohan Singh launched Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) portal (http://kvk.icar.gov.in) on 8th July 2016 in New Delhi.
- The app has been designed to monitor the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (645 at present) at the national level and to provide timely Information and Advisory to the Farmers.
3. E-Marketplace Portal (GeM)-
- The portal was launched by Union Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
- The portal was launched for online purchase of goods of common use and services by various ministries and departments of the Central Government.
- The e-marketplace portal has been developed by the Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals (DGS&D).
- Currently any ministry or department can buy goods upto Rs 50,000 directly from the portal. For goods with costs exceeding this, purchases have to be made through price comparison, bidding or reverse auction.
4. SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation)Portal –
- Dr. Nasim Zaidi, Chief Election Commissioner of India and Mr. A. K. Joti and Mr. O.P. Rawat, Election Commissioners of India launched the SVEEP Portal in Hindi on 18 July 2016 during the Conference of Chief Electoral Officers of States.
- SVEEP Portal is a web based application, accessible to the Chief Electoral Officers and all other stakeholders.
- It serves as a window for easy accessibility of various initiatives of the Commission like NVSP (National Voters Service Portal), Online Voter Competition, information on events, creative content and other resource material.
5. POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) e-Box –
- The POCSO e-Box was launched by the Minister for Women and Child Development, Mrs. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi in New Delhi on 26 August 2016.
- It is an online complaint management system for easy and direct reporting of sexual offences against children and timely action against the offenders under the POCSO Act, 2012.
- The e-Box has been incorporated in the home page of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) (http://ncpcr.gov.in).
6. MSME Data Bank Portal and Online Finance Facilitation Web Portal –
- Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs, Mr. Arun Jaitley launched the two portals on the sidelines of 14th Meeting of the National Board of MSME at Vigyan Bhawan on 11 August 2016.
- MSME Data Bank portal is aimed at is making online census of the MSMEs in the country by Ministry of MSME for the first time by launching a comprehensive databank.
- It also aims at having a one-stop source of information of MSMEs of India, including their credit and technology, requirement in terms of raw material and marketing, etc
- The Online Finance Facilitation Web Portal will allow the MSMEs to apply for loans from the various banks on the NSIC (National Small Industries Corporation) portal.
7. Twitter Sewa –
- Launched by Telecom Minister, Mr. Manoj Sinha.
- The initiative aims to address the grievances of the common people in the telecom and postal sector.
- The twitter handle of the Minister will be @manojsinhabjp
8. Tarang, e-Trans and DEEP App –
- Union Minister of State for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy, Mr. Piyush Goyal launched the TARANG (Transmission App for Real Time Monitoring & Growth) Mobile App, e-Trans & DEEP (Discovery of Efficient Electricity Price) e-bidding web portals on 17 August 2016 in New Delhi.
- The initiative is aimed to enhance transparency in power transmission sector of the country
- The app has been developed by Rural Electrification Corporation Transmission Projects Company Limited.
