In the present competitive scenario English plays a very important role in our day to day life. Thus it is essential to have a sound knowledge and understanding of English vocabulary. So here we are presenting you a list of 10 difficult words from today’s newspapers. This will help you to sail and score good marks in English Language section. We will provide Daily Word List on a regular basis.

Here is today’s list of words

1. Gossamer – adjective– Flimsy– पतला

Synonyms  fibrous, translucent

Antonyms – coarse, heavy

E.g. – Because I love sunlight, I only have gossamer curtains in my home.

2. Acquiescence – noun– Passive consent – रज़ामंदी

Synonyms – submission, yielding

Antonyms – denial, rebellion

E.g. – The whole position was changed by the acquiescence, which became universal, in the doctrine of Darwin.

3. Inscribe – verb– To enter in a book, or on a list, roll, or document, by writing – लिखना

Synonyms – register, engrave

Antonyms – forget

E.g. – He shows how to inscribe the five regular polyhedra within it.

4. Vociferous– adjective–Making a loud outcry– मुखर

Synonyms – distracting, vehement

Antonyms – silent, quiet

E.g. – The protestors were vociferous as they screamed outside of the government building.

5. Zephyr– noun– Any soft, gentle wind हलकी हवा

Synonyms – whiff, breeze

E.g. – Before Sarah went to bed, she opened the window to feel the zephyr as she slept.

6. Abut– verb–To touch at the end or boundary line– सीमा पर एकत्रित होना

Synonyms – neighbor, be adjacent to

E.g. – 8 applies also to the ends of puddle walls where they abut against steep faces of rock.

7. Intermit– verb– To cause to cease temporarily– स्र्कना

Synonyms – terminate, desist

Antonyms – commence, initiate

E.g. – All-conquering heat, oh, intermit thy wrath, And on my throbbing temples potent thus Beam not so fierce.

8. Succumb– verb– To cease to resist– मर जाना

Synonyms – capitulate, knuckle under

Antonyms – conquer, defend

E.g. – Even good leaders eventually succumb to the pressure of the ruling class.

9. Braggart– noun– A vain boaster– डींगमार

Synonyms – boaster, blusterer

E.g. – My rich uncle is a braggart who constantly boasts about his possessions.

10. Foist– verb– To palm off– थोपना

Synonyms – sneak in, impose

E.g. – The government has decided to foist yet another tax increase on the public.
