Important Details you should now about Global Peace Index 2016

The India has secured 141st place in the Global Peace Index for the year 2016. The Global Peace Index (GPI) is an attempt to measure the relative position of nations' and regions' peacefulness. This list was prepared by the Sydney (Australia) based international and independent think tank Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). This year, Iceland topped the list as the World's most peaceful country. Syria had to stay at 163rd positon as the world's least peaceful country. Here are the Top 10 and Bottom 10 countries in the list.

Top 10 Countries in the List (Most Peaceful Countries)

  3. Denmark
  4. Austria
  5. New Zealand
  6. Portugal
  7. Czech Republic
  8. Switzerland
  9. Canada
  10. Japan
  11. Slovenia
Least Peaceful Countries in the List are
  • 153 - Pakistan
  • 154 - Libya
  • 155 - Sudan
  • 156 - Ukraine
  • 157 - Central African Republic
  • 158 - Yemen
  • 159 - Somalia
  • 160 - Afghanista
  • 161 - Iraq
  • 162 - South Sudan
  • 163 - Syria
Note : Last year India ranked 143rd in the list.
