Topic 1 : "Provident fund reform needs more clarity"
- Provident - making arrangements for future needs, especially by saving money
- Reform - make changes in something in order to improve it
- In the thick of something - in the most active or dangerous part of a particular situation
- Accumulated - to gradually increase in number or amount
- Corpus - the main body of a structure
- Gauging - to make a judgment about something, usually people's feelings
- Corner - to force somebody into a place or situation from which they cannot easily escape
- Constituency - voters of a specified group / area
- Uniform - remaining the same in all cases and at all times
- Superannuation - regular payment made into a fund by an employee towards a future pension
- Norm - something that is usual or standard
- Perspective - point of view
- Intention - aim or plan
- Lay the groundwork (for something) - to do what is necessary before an event or process can begin
- Laudable - deserving praise
- Justifiable - there is a good reason for it
- Lump sum - a single payment made at a particular time (opposite to a number of smaller payments or instalments)
- Albeit - although
- Distinguish - to notice or understand the difference between two things
- Calibrated - adjusted
- Inculcating - to fix beliefs or ideas in someone's mind, especially by repeating them often
- Construed - to understand the meaning in a particular way (especially of other people's actions and statements)
- Expenditure - an amount of money spent
- Tantamount - being almost the same or having the same effect as something (usually something bad)
- Prod - to encourage someone to take action (especially when they are slow or not willing to do that)
- Invigorate - to give strength or energy
- Annuity - a fixed sum of money paid to someone each year
- Put the cart before the horse - to do things in the wrong order
- Resounding - very great
- Allies - someone who helps and supports
- Hardliners - politician who sticks uncompromisingly to a set of ideas or policies
- Steadfastly - strongly and without stopping
- Reform - make changes in something in order to improve it
- Agenda - a list of aims or possible future achievements
- Cleric - a priest or religious leader
- Backed - to give financial or moral support
- Consistent - always behaving or happening in a similar way
- Rigid - fixed, not able to be changed

- Rapprochement - an agreement reached by opposing groups or people
- Setback - something that happens that delays or prevents a process from developing
- Cast a shadow on something - to spoil a good situation with something unpleasant
- Prospect - the possibility of some future event occurring
- Evident - clearly seen or understood
- Anticipate - to imagine or expect that something will happen
- Overriding - more important than any other considerations
- Mandate - an official order to do something
- Rapid - fast or sudden
- Clergy - religious leaders, especially Christian priests, ministers, etc
- Radical - relating to the most important parts of something or someone
- Nevertheless - despite what has just been said or referred to
- Theocracy - a system of government in which priests rule in the name of God or a god
- Momentum - the force that keeps an object moving or keeps an event developing after it has started
- Expedite - to make something happen more quickly
- Pace - speed
