Answers
1. 3; The series is 3 × 2 + 3 = 9, 9 × 3 – 4 = 23, 23 × 4 + 5 = 97, 97 × 5 – 6 = 479, 479 × 6 + 7 = 2881, 2881 × 7 – 8 = 20159
Hence, there should be 97 in place of 99.

2. 2; The series is 1 × 2 + 1 = 3, 3 × 2 + 0 = 6, 6 × 2 – 1 = 11, 11 × 2 – 2 = 20, 20 × 2 –
3 = 37, 37 × 2 – 4 = 70.
Hence, there should be 37 in place of 39.
