The Time magazine today announced that the German Chancellor Angela Merkel is it's "Person of the Year 2015". Founder of Uber, the $62.5bn ride-sharing app that has been met with both resistance and enthusiasm; Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Isis terror cell; Iranian president Hassan Rouhani and Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump were also competed for the honor. But at last merkel won the title for her leadership during Europe`s debt, refugee and migrant crises, as well as Russia`s intervention in Ukraine. Time also cited Merkel's strong response to "Vladimir Putin's creeping theft of Ukraine" and on its cover called her "Chancellor of the Free World." .
What is this Times Person of the Year ?
Yearly the Time magazine pics a person who had the greatest impact on the world, for good or bad, during the entire year and publishes an annual issue featuring that person. This tradtion was started in the year 1927. Earlier they used to call it as "Man of the Year". In the year 1999 the title was changed to "Person of the year".
