IBPS Clerk Prelims Exam Startegy

Hi readers,

Many of you are going to appear for IBPS Clerk Prelims exam, today I am sharing Exam strategy for the exam.

Quantitative Aptitude

You can't go through this section without cracking Data Interpretation. There will be two sets. If there is a lack of time then choose an easier one and skip another. Solve these questions using elimination method. It's difficult to find exact answers in DI. Read DI guide here.

Don't skip any chapter from this section, specially Quadratic equations and Series. There can be 5 questions from these chapters.

Ideal attempt for this section 17-18.

Because of this section many candidates failed in IBPS PO exam. Solving 17-18 questions within seems realistic. In case you find Data interpretation sets very time consuming then don't stick to them, you can grab the remaining marks from other questions.

Expected pattern

• 2 Data interpretation sets ( 10 marks)
• Arithmetic (Time and work, time and distance, Ratio and proportions, Averages, Simple and compound interest, Profit and loss )  8-12 marks
• Algebra (2-3 marks)
• Quadratic equations (0-5 marks)
• Series (0-5 marks)
• Simplification (0-5 marks)

Reasoning

My first tip for this section - Skip Puzzles. 

You have 20 minutes for this section and you wants to do 16-17 questions from this section. 

Time consuming chapters - Machine input and Output

Easy chapters - Syllogism, Inequalities, Data sufficiency.

Expected pattern

During IBPS PO Prelims, I observed that English is turning point which can determine whether you will crack the exam or not. You need to make "educated guess" in this section. No mater how many vocabulary lists you have crammed, at some time you need to make guesses in this section.

This is the only section in which you can do 26-27 questions within 20 minutes. This section is game changer in Preliminary exams. 

There will be two Reading Comprehensions in this section. You can skip one.

According to me, you shouldn't skip any other question from this section. Make a target of 19-20 marks from this section.

Tips

• Avoid Puzzles, difficult Reading comprehensions and complex DI sets
• Attempt English first, then Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning at last
