International Current Affairs
  • The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that there is currently no evidence that people who have recovered from COVID-19 and have antibodies are protected from a second infection. 
    • WHO said no study has evaluated whether the presence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 confers immunity to subsequent infection by this virus in humans.
National Current Affairs
  • A total of 1,396  confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India in the last 24 hours taking the total number to 27,892
    • Out of the total cases, 6,184 patients have recovered and discharged from the hospitals including 381 patients recovered in the last 24 hours while 872 patients have died so far. 
    • Briefing media in New Delhi, Health Ministry official said that recovery rate if patients is improving and  now  it stood at 22.17  per cent. 
    • 16 Districts in the country which earlier had cases, have not reported any fresh cases in the last 28 days.
    • 3 new districts which were added to the above list are  Gondia in Maharashtra, Devangere in Karnataka and Lakhi Sarai in Bihar.
  • The government has launched covidwarriors.gov.in website which links volunteers of social organisations and representatives of local administration. 
    • This website includes doctors, nurses, ASHA workers, NCC and NSS officers.
Banking, Business & Economic Affairs
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today announced a Special Liquidity Facility for Mutual Funds (SLF-MF) of 50,000 crore rupees with a view to easing liquidity pressures on MFs. 
    • The RBI has stated that it remains vigilant and will take whatever steps are necessary to mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19 and preserve financial stability.
  • Maruti Suzuki, the Automobile giant is now spearheading the production of low cost ventilators in India and helping the government in the fight against COVID-19. 
    • The production is going on in Gautam Bhuddh Nagar of Uttar Pradesh.
    • The low cost ventilators were designed by Agva Healthcare and Maruti Suzuki is enhancing the production by pouring in the vendors and doing the quality control. 
  • India's chemical exports rose by 7 per cent to 2.68 lakh crore rupees during April-January period of the last fiscal, and became the top exporting sector in the country for the first time.

  • Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has been banned from all forms of cricket for 3 years over corruption charges. 
    • The decision was announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board's disciplinary committee, headed by Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan, after the cricketer decided not to fight the charges against him. A
