Who releases the India Skills Report 2019?

• The joint initiative by Wheebox, a Global Talent Assessment Company, PeopleStrong, India’s fastest growing HR solutions, and HR Technology Company, in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), releases the India Skills Report 2019 and is undoubtedly supported by others like UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), AICTE(All India Council for Technical Education), and AIU(Association of Indian University).

What is there in the India Skills Report 2019?

• The India Skills Report 2019 consists of a detailed analysis of employability among the fresher who aspire to join the workforce.
• It also mentioned clearly that more than 48% of the students who are passing out in 2019 are employable.
• The top three states as per the nationwide study, as mentioned in the India Skills Report 2019:-
• 1. Andhra Pradesh
  2. West Bengal
  3. Delhi
• The study also revealed that the most employable people are the engineers, mainly from Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) & Information Technology (IT). On the other hand, MBA courses lose their grandeur.
• The India Skills Report 2019 report had been prepared based on a survey. A total of 300,000 candidates from 35 educational institutes from 28 states and 9 Union Territories had been assessed during making the report.
• According to the India Skills Report 2019, there is a rise in employability and employability of male and female for the year 2019 is 46% and 47% respectively.
• The employability rate of females has increased considerably in 2019 when compared to last year.

What exactly does Employability mean?

• It basically refers to the capability of achieving and maintaining employment. In simple and lucid language, employability refers to the state or quality of being employed. However, it all depends on the skills possessed by the particular candidate- his skills, his abilities and the knowledge he has.

• India has a long way to go. There should be a focus on reducing the gaps in the employability. The gap between the employability of male and female is there since women are more employable as compared to men.
