Ease of Doing Business Index 2019

• The Ease of Doing Business Report is a Report which is released by the World Bank every year. The origin of this report can be traced back to “The Regulation of Entry”. A Bulgarian economist by the name of Simeon Djankov first published this Paper in the year 2002, in the Quarterly Journal of Economics.
• The Ease of Doing Business Report actually checks and measures 12 main regulations and norms for doing business across a total of 190 countries and ranks the countries on the basis of their suitability to help business crop up in that particular country.

Rank of the Countries according to Ease of Doing Business 2019

• • 1st Position:- Secured by New Zealand
  • 2nd Position:- Secured by Singapore
  • 3rd Position:- Secured by Denmark
  • 77th Position:- Secured by India
  • 190th Position:-Secured by Somalia
• In the year 2014, India’s rank in the Ease of Doing Business Report was 142nd. India has improved its position between 2014 and 2019. In the year 2018 the rank of India in Ease of Doing Business was 77th.
• As for the South Asian countries, the Rank of India is as a Top Performer. In the year 2014, the Rank of India within the South Asian countries was 6th.
• The first country within the BRICS Nations and South Asian countries which has been recognized as a top performer is none other than India.
• On the other hand the two countries that witnessed poorer performance as compared to 2014 are China and South Africa.
