IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2019 - Prelims. Mains Paper Pattern

2019 comes with many examinations like LIC AAO, SBI PO, SBI Clerk, EPFO and now IBPS comes with vacancies of Probationary Officer. Every year the Institute of banking personnel institution conducts a three-tier process examination to recruit various candidates under the post of a probationary officer to be posted in various public sector banks across India. According to the official notification, IBPS PO 2019 Prelims Exam is scheduled to be held on 12th, 13th, 19th & 20th October 2019 while the IBPS PO Main Examination will be tentatively held on 30th November 2019. This is a time to get ready for the huge opportunity to become a Probationary Officer in the reputed public sector banks as IBPS released 4300+ vacancies of PO for 2019. IBPS PO Exam Pattern:

IBPS PO recruits aspirants through its three-tier process. The three-tier process includes the Prelims Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview Process. One should read IBPS Official Notification for PO carefully. Aspirants have to clear each all the three-tier process. Recruitment starts with Prelims Exam. Prelims of IBPS PO is an objective type of online paper. Prelims Exam consists of three sections English, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude.

Prelims Exam has a sectional timing of 20 minutes for each section.
35 questions for Reasoning and quantitative aptitude, 30 questions for English Language.
Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks which is decided by IBPS.
Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination. Mostly IBPS shortlist 20 times number of
There is a negative marking in each section, For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score.

IBPS PO Main Exam Pattern

Main Examination consists of Objective Tests of 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 25 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests were conducted online. The objective test of 3 hours duration consists of 4 Sections for a total of 200 marks. The objective test has separate timing for every section.

The main feature of the Main exam is it has unequal distribution of marks in Reasoning & Computer Aptitude and Quantitative Aptitude.

Data Analysis & Interpretation contains 35 questions carrying 60 marks with sectional timing of 45 minutes.
Reasoning & Computer Aptitude contains 45 questions carrying 60 marks with sectional timing of 60 minutes
English Language contains 35 questions carrying 40 marks with sectional timing 40 minutes
General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness contains 40 questions carrying 40 marks with sectional timing of 35 minutes.

After completion of the online objective paper of 3 hrs, Descriptive paper starts. This section is of 30 minutes carrying 25 marks 2 topics( Letter Writing & Essay). Moreover, Topics of Essay are based on current topics.

Following are the current topics asked in recently held banking exams (SBI PO)

Letter Writing (150 words):

a) Write a letter to the Branch Manager for the replacement of the lost cheque book.

b) Write a letter to your senior thanking him career advice.

c) Write a letter to the Branch Manager to increase the number of counters in the respective branch.

Essay Writing (200 words):

a) Digital Literacy

b) E-commerce impact on traditional business

c) Precaution to be used while using online banking.

IBPS PO Interview

Candidates who have been shortlisted in the Online Main examination for CRP- PO/MT-IX will subsequently be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organisations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS. Interviews will be conducted at select centers. The center, address of the venue, time & date of Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter.

The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWBD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of Online Main Exam and interview will be 80:20 respectively. The combined final score of candidates shall be given on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Online Main Examination Interview score of the candidates failing to secure minimum qualifying marks or otherwise barred from the interview or further process shall not be disclosed. While appearing for the Interview, the candidate should produce valid prescribed documents.
