Dhyan Chand Awards 2019

"Dhyan Chand Award" is India's highest award for lifetime achievements in sports and games. Lets know about the award.

The award is given by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The award is named on the name of Legendry Hockey Player Major Dhyan Chand.
The award was initiated in 2002.
The awardee is given Rs. 5,00,000 , a plaque and a scroll of honour.
Balbir Singh Senior has been honored with a Dhyan Chand Life Time Achievement Award .
The 90 years old man received the trophy of Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award along with a cheque of Rs. 30 Lakh on March 28, 2015.
He is also first sports person to receive Padma Shri Award in 1957.
Balbir Singh's record of most five goals in an Olympic Final still stands and he also recognize as 16 iconic Olympians.
He was the part of team when India won continuously 3 gold medals in London Olympics (1948), Helsinki Olympics (1952) and Melbourne Olympics (1956).
He was the captain of the Indian team during the Melbourne Olympics.
