Usage:  They were always ready to go through fire and water for the sake of their friends.

Meaning: Revealing the information indiscreetly
Usage: Trust her to spill the beans, she never could keep a secret.

On the verge of
Meaning: on the brink of
Usage: He gave a broad hint that he was on the verge of leaving.

A bolt from the blue
Meaning: Something unexpected and unpleasant
Usage: Even so, the dismissal should never come as a bolt from the blue, however, exalted your place in the corporate hierarchy.

A sore point
Meaning: something that hurts
Usage: Whatever you do, don't mention his ex-wife—his divorce is really a sore point with him.

Meaning: secret

Meaning: A friend that desserts in difficulty
Usage: someone who is a friend only when things are going right and leaves you when you face trouble

Meaning: Appear suddenly
Usage: For his final trick, the magician pulled a bouquet of flowers out of thin air.
