According to the Hindu calendar, Guru Purnima falls in the Ashadha month on the full moon day. On this day the number of devotees shows their gratitude towards their Guru's for showing the path of truth and happiness. In the life of the disciple, Guru holds supreme importance because a disciple cannot realize God without Guru. This day is celebrated in the remembrance of Maharishi Veda Vyasa. People use to perform Yogic Sadhna and meditation on this day and it holds huge significance in the Hindy Mythology. 

As per the Indian beliefs, Lord Buddha is also honored by his devotees believing that he delivers his first sermon on this day. Guru Purnima signifies your ideal that can be your teacher, parents, friends, siblings or even the voice inside you that motivates you to keep on working on the right path. what could be the best Gurudakshina for a guru? It is the right path towards success, that may lead you to be a mentor one day.

गुरु ब्रह्मा गुरु विष्णु
गुरु देवो महेश्वरा
गुरु साक्षात् परम ब्रह्मा
तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः

Significance of GURU PURNIMA: As per the Hindu tradition, Guru means a person who can make the life of a person who has forgotten the real meaning of life. One who can bring his follower to the light from the darkness. To pay tribute to the Gurus, 16th July is dedicated to the Parv of Guru Purnima.

It is a good day for all the aspirants to start their preparation with the blessings of their Gurus and make a promise to them not to quit until you succeed, as a tribute to their gurus.
