Q13. Two fair dices are thrown. The probability of getting.
Quantity 1: A sum of two numbers divisible by 4.
Quantity 2: A sum of two numbers to be a prime number less than 10.
Quantity 1 > Quantity 2
Quantity 1 < Quantity 2
Quantity 1 ≥ Quantity 2
Quantity 1 ≤ Quantity 2
Quantity 1 = Quantity 2 or relationship cannot be established.
Solution:
Quantity 1: Total possible cases = 6 × 6 = 36
Favorable cases
Sum should be = 4, 8 or 12
= (1,3), (2,2), (2,6), (3,1), (3,5), (4,4), (5,3), (6,2) or (6,6)
So, favorable cases = 9
∴ Required probability = 9/36 = 1/4
Quantity 2: Favorable cases
Sum should be = 2, 3, 5 or 7
= (1 & 1), (1 & 2), (1 & 4), (1 & 6), (2 & 1), (2 & 3), (2 & 5), (3 & 2), (3 & 4), (4 & 1), (4 & 3), (5 & 2), (6 & 1)
So, favorable cases = 13
∴ Required probability = 13/36
so, quantity 1 < quantity 2

If distance between two ends is 20 km and both meet at a point 16 km away from end of Prashant. (river is flowing from Prashant’s end to Ravi’s end)
Quantity 1 > Quantity 2
Quantity 1 < Quantity 2
Quantity 1 ≥ Quantity 2
Quantity 1 ≤ Quantity 2
Quantity 1 = Quantity 2 or relationship cannot be established.
