Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. It becomes very important to learn ample amount of words for the upcoming Government Job Exams. You can learn new words daily from our Daily Word List . Here is a list of words from daily Editorials. Learn the words and make your own sentences on the basis of the given word list.

1. HETERODOX (adjective) विधर्मिक
Meaning: not conforming with accepted or orthodox standards or beliefs.
Synonyms:, separatist, heretical,  nonconformist, iconoclastic.
Antonyms: orthodox, agnostic, devout, nonsectarian.
Usage: He argues that this ignores the complex interaction between orthodox intellectual culture and heterodox expression.

2. SLUMP (verb) गिर पड़ना
Meaning: undergo a sudden severe or prolonged fall in price, value, or amount.
Synonyms: plummet, plunge, tumble, decline.
Antonyms: rise, ascend, grow, soar.
Usage: When the task force was putting together its original report, the world price of oil had slumped as low as $10 a barrel.

3. PURLOIN (verb) चुराना
Meaning: steal (something).
Synonyms: loot, pilfer, steal, embezzle.
Antonyms: bestow, contribute, donate, purchase.
Usage: Sometimes it's impossible to not purloin an excerpt from another person's blog.

4. SIEGE (Noun): घेराबंदी 
Meaning: a military operation in which enemy forces surround a town or building, cutting off essential supplies, with the aim of compelling those inside to surrender.
Synonyms: blockade, barricade, restriction
Antonyms: clearance, opening
Usage: During the siege of the village, the villagers were forced to give up their property.

5. GLOAT (Verb): आनंदित होना
Meaning: dwell on one’s own success or another’s misfortune with smugness or malignant pleasure.
Synonyms: exult, rejoice, relish
Antonyms: commiserate, sympathize
Usage: If you are the winner of a contest, you should not gloat and make your competitors feel inferior.

6. TIZZY: घबराहट
Meaning: a state of nervous excitement or agitation.
Synonyms: acrimony, animosity, annoyance, chagrin.
Antonyms: calm, calmness, delight, ease
Usage: Her mother was in a tizzy over Liz’s divorce.

8. STENTORIAN (adjective)  बुलंद
Meaning: (of a person’s voice) loud and powerful.
Synonyms: booming, clangorous, piercing, roaring.
Antonyms: soothing, muffled, muted, softened.
Usage: When my father speaks in a stentorian voice, I know I’m in trouble.

9. FARRAGO (noun) संमिश्रण
Meaning: a confused mixture.
Synonyms: mishmash, jumble, hodgepodge, turmoil.
Antonyms: constituent, ravel, sequence, categorization.
Usage: The present gun law is a farrago of nonsense as most of it is unenforceable.

10. STRAY (verb) भटकना
Meaning: move away aimlessly from a group or from the right course or place.
Synonyms: digress, deviate, wander, drift.
Antonyms: stay, belong, remain, exist.
Usage: She went for a long walk and strayed into the forest.
