Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. It becomes very important to learn ample amount of words for the upcoming Government Job Exams. You can learn new words daily from our Daily Word List . Here is a list of words from daily Editorials. Learn the words and make your own sentences on the basis of the given word list.

1. APARTHEID (noun) रंगभेद
Meaning: a policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race.
Synonyms: prejudice, bias, bigotry, favoritism.
Antonyms: antidiscrimination, antiracism, antisegregation, assimilationism.
Usage: Incredibly, a decade after the end of apartheid this system still exists.

2. DRACONIAN (adjective) कठोर
Meaning: excessively harsh and severe.
Synonyms: cruel, brutal, oppressive, ruthless.
Antonyms: mild, amenable, temperate, gentle.
Usage: There was a time when I would have argued that our libel laws were draconian and should be amended.

3. FRAY (noun) दंगा
Meaning: a battle or fight.
Synonyms: skirmish, altercation, tussle, struggle.
Antonyms: tranquility, truce, accord, harmony.
Usage: What clearly separated her from the others in the fray was her controlled aggression.

4. VEST (verb) निहित होना
Meaning: confer or bestow (power, authority, property, etc.) on someone.
Synonyms: entrust, invest, bestow, confer.
Antonyms: impede, inhibit, disqualify, disbar.
Usage: Extensive powers were vested into the hands of the President who headed the executive branch of government.

5. MOMENTOUS (adjective) प्रभावशाली
Meaning: of great importance or significance, especially in having a bearing on future events.
Synonyms: significant, fateful, portentous, critical.
Antonyms: trivial, insignificant, trifling, unsubstantial.
Usage: The prospect of a single currency may present this country with one of the most momentous decisions in its history.

6. HOBBLE (verb) लंगड़ाना
Meaning: walk in an awkward way, typically because of pain from an injury.
Synonyms: totter, dodder, falter, lurch.
Antonyms: breeze, glide, sail, stride.
Usage: And the Olympic silver medallist in Sydney looked to be in considerable pain as he hobbled off the track.’

7. DEADLOCK (noun)  गतिरोध
Meaning: a situation, typically one involving opposing parties, in which no progress can be made.
Synonyms: stalemate, impasse, checkmate, stand-off.
Antonyms: breakthrough, advance, progress, accomplishment.
Usage: As a result, they are looking to end the current deadlock by resorting to extra-parliamentary means.

8. BREAKAWAY (noun) संबंध-विच्छेद
Meaning: a divergence or radical change from something established or long-standing.
Synonyms: heterodox, dissident, separatist, heretical.
Antonyms: dependent, agreement, adherent, ally.
Usage: By providing them with the shorts it was intended to symbolize the spiritual and mental breakaway from traditional dress and thought.

9. DEFECTION (noun) उल्लंघन
Meaning: the desertion of one's country or cause in favor of an opposing one.
Synonyms: desertion, absconding, decamping, flight.
Antonyms: commitment, reliability, fidelity, devotion.
Usage: Her defection from the Democrats occurred soon after the failure of the coalition proposal.

10. BLATANT (adjective) प्रबल
Meaning: (of bad behavior) done openly and unashamedly.
Synonyms: flagrant, glaring, undisguised, overt.
Antonyms: imperceptible, inconspicuous, unnoticeable, unobtrusive.
Usage: To credit the newspaper, they did retract the quote once it was exposed as a blatant lie.
