Government Schemes Launched In 2017 : For Railway Group-D Exam 2018

Dear Students,


Current Affairs is an equally important section containing weightage of 20 questions in Railway Group-D Exam 2018 and has an even more abundant importance in some other exams conducted by SSC. Most of the questions were asked from government schemes launched in 2017, important awards, current affairs etc, so here we are with notes on particular schemes launched by Government for the betterment of citizens. So you should know important shchemes so that you can score well in current affairs section.

Important Government Schemes launched in 2017

Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDSA) – Making Rural India Digitally Literate
  • Rs. 2,351.38 cr. The scheme aims to make 6 cr. Rural households digitally literate by March 2019.
SAUBHAGYA Scheme 
  • “Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana” 
  •  The state Government of Manipur 
Shadi Shagun Yojana:
  • Launched on August 6, 2017. 
  • Under the scheme, all the graduate Muslim girls completing their graduation in any of the streams before their marriage would also be eligible to avail the Shaadi Shagun Yojana benefits.
  • The main objective of Shadi Shagun Yojana is to motivate girls from minority groups to pursue higher education.
Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendras (PMMSK)
  • Mission for protection & Empowerment of Women. 
  • by Ministry of Women and Child Development.
  • duration fo 2017-18 to 2019-20. 
  • will provide the financial outlay of Rs. 3,636.85 cr.
  • Central share of approximately Rs. 3,084.96 cr. 
  • Implementation in 161 districts. 
Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana:
  • Launched on May, 2017.
  • The government would provide Rs. 6000 financial aid to pregnant and lactating mothers for the first live birth.
  • Aims at improving the health of pregnant women and lactating mothers and reducing the effects of under-nutrition through cash incentives.
Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana — Saubhagaya to Provide Electricity to All. 
  • govt. will provide Rs. 16,320 Cr. Within the next two years. 
  • to provide last mile electricity connectivity to all.
Sahaj Bijlittar Ghar Yojana 
  • J & K “Power for All” (Saubhagya Scheme) 
  • Free electricity connections to all the poor citizens of the state. 
  • Will provide connections at Rs. 500 which poor people can pay in 10 instalments.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao:
  • PM launched the programme on January 22, 2015 from Panipat, Haryana on the occasion of International Day of the Girl Child.
  • The aim of this scheme is to generate awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services meant for women. Also, it aims to Celebrate the Girl Child & Enable her Education.
  • The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme has been introduced to address the issue of declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR).
  • PM launched the programme on January 22, 2015 from Panipat, Haryana on the occasion of International Day of the Girl Child.
  • Aim of this scheme is to generate awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services meant for women. Also, it aims to Celebrate the Girl Child & Enable her Education.

Khelo India Programme 
  • Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. “Sport for All”. 
  • for athletes training. 
  • Govt. is going to select 1000 athletes under “Pan Indian Sports Scholarship” Scheme. 
  • Govt will provide financial Assistance and resource of upto Rs. 5 lakhs for 8 yrs. 
  • age group of 10-18 years. 
Women Helpline Scheme:
  • Launched on April 1, 2015.
  • To provide 24 hour emergency and non-emergency response to women affected by violence including sexual offences and harassment both in the public and private sphere, including in the family, community, workplace, etc.
PMAY (Urban) Home loan Subsidy 
  • Govt. will provide interest subsidy of 3% and 4% for a home loan amount of up to Rs. 9 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh.
  • For MIG (Middle Income Group) 
  • Govt. has increased the house area for MIG up to 1500 sq.ft.
One Stop Centre Scheme for Women:
  • Started in the year 2015 
  • To be funded from the Nirbhaya Fund.
  • To provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces under one roof. 
Deen Dayal SPARSH (Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby). 
  • to increase the reach of school children for philately.
  • The Students of standard VI to IX will be covered under the scheme.
  • by department of Post under Minisry of communications.
  • The total amount of scholarship will be Rs. 6000/- per annum @ Rs. 500/- per month. 
  • The student should have secured minimum 60% marks in the final year examination, 5% relaxation to SC/ST community.
Digital Gender Atlas for Advancing Girls Education :
  • Developed by the government of India with the support of UNICEF on March 2015.
  • The scheme will help identify low performing geographic pockets for girls, particularly from marginalized groups such as scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and Muslim minorities, on specific gender-related education indicators.
Sankalp Se Siddhi – New India Movement from 2017–2022
  • by Ministry of culture.
  • launched on the occasion of 75th anniversary of Quit India movement.
Pradhan Mantri Gram Parivahan Yojana (PMGPY) – Interest-Free Commercial Vehicle Loan for Women.
  • to women self-help group to buy commercial passenger vehicles. (in the areas where the roads have already been constructed under the PM Gram Sadak Yojana.
  • Loan of maximum Rs. 6 lakhs would be provided under PMGPY and the loan tenure would be about 6 months.
Rs. 51000 Shadi Shagun Scheme for Muslim Girls by Modi Government
  • to Muslim Community girls who completes their graduation.
  • The aim of the scheme is to encourage Muslim girls for the pursuit of higher education.
  • Rs. 10,000 for 9th and 10th classes.
  • Rs. 12,000 for XI and XII classes.
Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY) – Pension Scheme for Senior Citizens 
  • implemented by Life Insurance Corporation of India.
  • Above 60 years of age.
  • they would be provided with an interest of over 8% for 10 years.
  • Minimum pension under the scheme is Rs. 1000 which maximum is Rs. 5000 per month.
