  • Beyond - to be more than or not limited to something
  • Uniformity - the state of being the same as each other or as everything else
  • Ruling out - to stop considering something as a possibility
  • Uniform - the same; not changing or different in any way
  • Discrimination - unfair treatment of someone because of their religion, race, or other personal features
  • Persuasive - good at making people agree to do or believe what you want them to
  • Reform - a change that is intended to correct a situation that is wrong or unfair, or make a system work more effectively
  • Progressive - supporting social and political change that aims to make a system fairer
  • Advocacy - strong public support for something
  • Merely - only / just
  • For the sake of someone / something - in order to help or bring advantage to someone / something
  • Advocate - to publicly support a particular policy or way of doing things
  • Succession - the process by which someone takes an official position or job after someone else has been doing it:
  • Adoption - the process of making a child legally part of your family, or an instance of this
  • Gender bias - unfair difference in the treatment of men or women because of their sex
  • Adulthood - the period of your life when you are an adult
  • Affirm - to state that something is true or that you agree with it, especially in public
  • Stereotype - a very firm and simple idea about what a particular type of person or thing is like
  • Decriminalise - to change the law so that something that was illegal becomes legal
  • Adultery - sex that takes place between a married person and someone who is not their husband or wife
  • Irretrievable - impossible to get back or return to good condition
  • Breakdown - a situation in which something has failed or is beginning to fail
  • Dissolve - to officially end a marriage or other legal agreement
  • Abolition - the official end to a law, system, practice etc
  • Cure - to stop someone from being affected by an illness
  • Imply - if one thing implies another thing, the other thing is likely to exist or be true
  • Robust - strong and successful
  • Moot - to suggest something as a subject for discussion
  • Guardianship - the position of being legally responsible for someone
  • Juvenile - relating to young people
  • Paramount - more important than all other things
  • Debate - a discussion in which people or groups state different opinions about a subject
  • Desirable - something that is desirable has qualities that make you want it
  • Diversity - the fact that very different people or things exist within a group or place
  • Aspect - a particular part, feature, or quality of something
  • Taboo - something that people do not do or talk about because it is very offensive or shocking

  • Heptathlon - a sports event that consists of seven different events
  • Cope - to deal successfully with a difficult situation
  • Far from - used for saying that the real situation is the opposite of what you mention
  • Ideal - of the best or most suitable type
  • Toe - one of the five individual parts (fingers) at the end of your foot
  • Seize - to take something quickly and keep or hold it
  • Drought - a prolonged absence of something specified
  • Claim - to win something such as a prize or a top position in sport
  • Maiden - being the first of its type
  • Defending champion - a team or player that has won the previous edition of the competition
  • Slump - to be suddenly reduced to a much lower level
  • Powerhouse - something such as a country or organization that has a lot of power or influence
  • Adjudge - to make an official judgment about someone or something
  • Riveted - to not be able to stop looking at something because it is so interesting
  • Sobering - making you think about things in a serious way
  • Athletics - sports events in which people compete against each other in running races, jumping, and throwing things
  • Excel - to do something extremely well
  • Perhaps - used for saying that you are not certain about something, or that something may or may not be true
  • Ensure - to make certain that something happens or is done
