Dear Students,
Numerical Ability or Quantitative Aptitude Section is getting complex and convoluted every year. The questions asked in this section are calculative and very time-consuming. One needs to fight tooth and nail to get a desirable score in this section. Once dealt with proper strategy, speed, and accuracy, this section can get you the maximum marks in the examination. Not only this, these quizzes will also prove propitious for the upcoming NIACL Assistant. Now, pull up your socks, it’s time for Blood, sweat and tears.
Q1. Rishabh can do a work in 24 days. The ratio of working efficiency of Shashank and Keshav is 4 : 5 and efficiency ratio of Rishabh and Shashank is 3 : 4. In how much time Keshav will complete the same work ?
Q2. The simple interest on a certain sum at a certain rate of interest for two years is Rs. 3200 and compound interest on the same sum at the same rate of interest for two years is Rs. 3520. Find simple interest on the same sum at same rate of interest for 4 years.
Q3. A trader marks the price of a digital watch 66⅔% above of its cost price and allows a discount of 16⅔% on marked price. If marked price of watch is Rs. 3600 then find profit (in rupees) obtained by trader.
Q4. Two filling pipes A and B can fill a tank separately with the rate of 50 m³/min and 70 m³/min respectively. There is a leakage in the bottom of the tank which working efficiency is 30% less than the efficiency of pipe A. If capacity of tank is 7000 m³, then in how much time the tank will be filled if all the three (both filling pipes and leak) start performing simultaneously?
Q5. A card is drawn from a pack of 52 cards. What is the probability that either card is black or a king?
Directions (6-10): Study the following bar graph and answer the questions that follow. The following bar graph shows the total no. of students (on vertical axes) in five different colleges (on horizontal axes) studying in three different streams.
Q7. Number of students enrolled in B.Sc from college C and E together are approximately what percent of the total number of students B. Com from all colleges together?
Q8. What is the ratio of 2/5 of students enrolled in college A and C together to 5/3 of students enrolled in college D & E together.
Q9. If 76/5% of students enrolled in college D, leaves the college and number of students from all three discipline (i.e. B.A., B Sc, B Com) who leave college D are in the ratio 8 : 6 : 5 respectively, then remaining student from B. com in college D are what % of student from B.Sc discipline from college E
Q1. Rishabh can do a work in 24 days. The ratio of working efficiency of Shashank and Keshav is 4 : 5 and efficiency ratio of Rishabh and Shashank is 3 : 4. In how much time Keshav will complete the same work ?
18.4 days
16 days
14.4 days
16.4 days
12 days
Solution:
C
S : K = 4 : 5 and R : S = 3 : 4
S = working efficiency of Shashank
K = working efficiency of Keshav
R = working efficiency of Rishabh
∴ S : K : R = 4 : 5 : 3
Time ratio of Shashank, Keshav and Rishabh respectively
= 1/4 :1/5 :1/3 = 15 : 12 : 20
∴ Required answer = (12/20) ×24 = 14.4 days
S : K = 4 : 5 and R : S = 3 : 4
S = working efficiency of Shashank
K = working efficiency of Keshav
R = working efficiency of Rishabh
∴ S : K : R = 4 : 5 : 3
Time ratio of Shashank, Keshav and Rishabh respectively
= 1/4 :1/5 :1/3 = 15 : 12 : 20
∴ Required answer = (12/20) ×24 = 14.4 days
Q2. The simple interest on a certain sum at a certain rate of interest for two years is Rs. 3200 and compound interest on the same sum at the same rate of interest for two years is Rs. 3520. Find simple interest on the same sum at same rate of interest for 4 years.
