Railway Protection Force (RPF) 2018: 


Government of India, Ministry of Railways is offering a great opportunity by inviting eligible candidates for the recruitment of Sub-Inspectors & Constable in Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF). Those awaiting results of the final examinations for the prescribed qualifications are not eligible and hence need not apply.

Start Date to Apply Online: 1st June 2018 (10:00 am)
Last Date for registration of Online Application: 30th June 2018 (23: 59 PM)
Computer Based Test (CBT): Tentatively scheduled September and October 2018.

Apply on time and start preparing proficiently for the Exam.
Selection Process: The subsequent procedure to get final selection is as follows.
  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) 
  4. Document Verification (DV)

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • It will consist of multiple-choice objective type questions.
  • Negative Marking: For every wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted.
  • 15 languages in the Railway Exam will be as follows:
  • Hindi, English, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati,  Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
  • Note: Exam pattern is same for Constable & Sub-Inspector.
  • Exam Level for Constable post in RPF: 10th/matric level
  • Exam Level for Sub-Inspector post in RPF:  Graduate level

RPF Exam Syllabus

General Awareness (50 marks): 

There will be 50 Questions for 50 Marks in General Awareness Section. This section covers the following chapters predominantly.
  • History
  • Polity
  • Geography
  • Economics
  • Static Awareness
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Phyiscs
  • Computer
  • Current Affairs


Arithmetic(35 marks): 

There will be 35 Questions for 35 Marks in Arithmetic Section. Following topics sum up the major syllabus.
  • Number System
  • Percentages 
  • Ratio and proportion, 
  • Averages, 
  • Simple Interest (SI) & Compound Interest (CI), 
  • Profit and loss
  • Mensuration, 
  • Time and distance


General Intelligence & reasoning(35 marks): 

There will be 35 Questions for 35 Marks in General Intelligence & reasoning Section as well. Below mentioned chapters cover the whole nine yards syllabus for the same.
  • Analogy
  • Odd One Out
  • Series
  • Statement & Conclusions
  • Directions
  • Coding-Decoding
  • Mathematical Operations
  • Matrix
  • Blood Relation (Age calculation)
  • Non-verbal Questions
  • Missing Term



2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature. The criterion for PET is as under:

For both Constable & Sub Inspector:


3. Document Verification
Candidates who do not appear for document verification will not be considered eligible for the final selection, irrespective of their performance in written examination and PET/PMT.

Note: Shortlisted candidates should produce NOC from the employer on the date of his/her DV failing which their candidature will be cancelled.
Signatures of the candidates on all documents should be identical, either in English or Hindi.
