Can You Prepare SSC ENGLISH and BANK ENGLISH Together?

May 2, 2018

Dear Readers,

SSC and Bank exams have two things in common- they are both computer based exams and they both have three common sections English, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. Many aspirants tend to appear for both exams so as to land into a government job. But have one thing clear in your mind, though these exams have many common topics, it will require serious dedication to prepare for these exams together. Both these exams have English language as a common subject and there are many similarities and differences between the topics and patterns of these exams

To prepare for English for both these exams together, the most important thing is to know about the pattern and the syllabus for these exams. The pattern of these two examinations is quite different. English language for bank exams has undergone various changes since last few years. The level of questions has become quite difficult for the students to crack. The questions asked in bank exams consist of Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Error Detection, Parajumbles, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Improvement, Paragraph Completion, Miscellaneous, Sentence Connectors, phrase replacement.

On the other hand, topics asked in SSC include Synonyms and Antonyms, Idioms and Phrases, one-word substitution, Spell check, Fill in the Blanks, Error Spotting, Direct and indirect speech, Active and Passive Voice, Parajumbles, Reading Comprehension, one word, Cloze Test, Error Correction. SSC has also increased the level of its questions. Earlier there used to be chances that the questions might get repeated for Idioms and phrases and one word but now the probability for repetition is very less. So, it needs proper preparation to crack these examinations.

In bank English there is comparatively greater stress on assessing your reading and usage skills while in SSC English, major stress is on Grammar rules and your word power. In order to prepare for these simultaneously, first prepare the topics that are common for both. Vocab is a must for both these exams so learn new words daily. Clear all your concepts in grammar as it will help you for both these exams. Practice mock tests for both these exams so that you become well aware about the questions and pattern of the exam. After completing the common topics, focus on the topics which are not similar in both exams. You can practice from ADDA247 TEST SERIES as we provide the latest pattern-based questions with detailed solutions to help you get through all the hurdles in exam.
