- Erosion - the gradual reduction or destruction of something important

- Strenuous - a strenuous activity is one in which it is necessary for you to use a lot of effort, energy, or strength
- Secrecy - a situation in which you keep something secret, or the process of keeping something secret
- Integrity - the quality of behaving according to the rules and standards of your job or profession
- Breach - to break a law, rule, or agreement
- Intend - to have a plan in your mind to do something
- Assert - to state firmly that something is true
- Inviolabile - too important or respected to be attacked, criticized, or ignored
- Protocol - the system of rules and acceptable behaviour used at official ceremonies and occasions
- Remedial - intended to improve or correct something
- High-stakes - a high-stakes activity or situation involves a lot of risk or serious consequences
- Vulnerable - easily damaged by something negative or harmful
- Distort - to change something such as information so that it is no longer true or accurate
- Apt - suitable or right for a particular situation
- Credible - able to be believed or trusted
- Scramble - to hurry or try very hard to get something
- Alleviate - to make something less painful, severe, or serious
- Fallout - the unpleasant effects of something that has happened
- Debate - if people debate a subject, they discuss it formally before making a decision
- Subsequently - after something else happened

- Diplomatic - acting in a way that does not cause offence

- Emphasise - to give particular importance or attention to something
- Peninsula - a long piece of land that is mostly surrounded by water, but is joined at one end to a larger area of land
- Summit - a meeting or series of meetings between leaders of two or more countries
- Regime - a system or form of government
- Stringent - stringent rules or conditions are strict and make you achieve high standards
- Isolate - to separate something
- Overture - a suggestion or offer that you make to someone
- Purge - to remove people suddenly or violently from an organization, group etc
- Set aside - to not let a particular feeling, opinion, or belief influence you, in order to achieve something more important
- Predecessor - the person who had a job or official position before someone else
- Crisis - an urgent, difficult, or dangerous situation
- Eventually - at the end of a process or period of time in which many things happen
- Reinstate - to start using or having something such as a law or benefit again
- Come in handy - to be useful in a particular situation
- Rival - a person, team, or business that competes with another
- Bypass - to avoid dealing with someone or something, especially because you think you can achieve something more quickly without using them
- Convergence - a situation in which people or things gradually become the same or very similar
- Uncertainty - a nervous feeling that you have because you think bad things might happen
- Hawkish - preferring to deal with political problems by using military force instead of more peaceful methods
- Breakthrough - a discovery or achievement that comes after a lot of hard work
- Volatile - a volatile situation can suddenly change or become more dangerous
- Robust - strong
- Multilateral - involving three or more groups, especially the governments of three or more countries
- Intervention - a situation in which someone becomes involved in a particular issue, problem etc in order to influence what happens
- Facilitator - someone who helps a person or organization to find a solution to a problem
