- In the third leg of his 3 Nation tour, President Ram Nath Kovind has reached Lusaka in Zambia.

- During this visit, he will hold bilateral talks with his Zambian counterpart Edgar Lungu.
- Earlier during his visit to Swaziland , 2 MoUs in fields of health and visa were signed between India and Swaziland.
- Kovind was bestowed with Swaziland's highest honor.

National Current Affairs
- Today (11th April 2018) is National Safe Motherhood Day.

- This day is observed across India on 11 April to create awareness on proper healthcare and maternity facilities to pregnant and lactating women.
- This day was launched by the White Ribbon Alliance (WRA), India, a nonpartisan, non-profit and non-governmental membership organization that aims to decrease maternal and newborn death globally
- Theme of National Safe Motherhood Day 2018 : ‘Respectful Maternity Care’.
- The Indian government has amended Income Tax rules to recognise transgenders as an independent category of applicants for obtaining a Permanent Account Number (PAN).
- The 1st meeting of the newly constituted NITI Forum for Northeast was held in Agartala, Tripura.

- The meeting was co-chaired by NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajeev Kumar and Minister of State (Independent Charge), for DoNER, Jitendra Singh.
- Representatives of all eight member northeastern states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura participated in it.
MOUs & Agreements
- India and World Expo 2020 Dubai have signed participants contract for India’s pavilion in prestigious World Expo 2020 held once in 5 years.

- The contract provides for setting up of India pavilion at Expo 2020 on extra-large plot (about one acre) in Opportunity segment.
Banking, Business & Economic Affairs
- China has filed a trade complaint against the United States with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) over tariffs imposed on imports of steel and aluminium products.

- China claimed the 25% duty on steel imports and 10% duty on imports of aluminium products violate WTO's fundamental principles.
- India today donated USD 1 million to support Swaziland's national disaster management agency and expressed commitment to developmental partnership to create local capacities in the country and across Africa.

- The commitment came as President Ram Nath Kovind addressed Swaziland's parliament, becoming the first visiting Head of the State to do so.
Awards & Honors
- Japan's Masazo Nonaka (112 Years) has been recognised as the world's oldest living man by the Guinness World Records.

- He was conferred the title after Francisco Nunez Olivera from Spain died in February aged 113.

- The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has constituted 12-member committee to review enforcement of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) provisions under Companies Act, 2013.

New Appointments
- IT industry body Nasscom has appointed Wipro's Chief Strategy Officer and board member Rishad Premji as its Chairman for 2018-19.

- Note : Rishad Premji is the son of Wipro's Chairman Azim Premji.
- The Union Government has appointed AIIMS professor Balram Bhargava as Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary of the Department of Health Research.
- Senior IPS officer Rajesh Ranjan has been appointed as the Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Sports Current Affairs
- India is going to host the Asia Cup 2018 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after a unanimous decision was taken by the Asian Cricket Council to move the tournament from India due to political reasons between India and Pakistan.
