  • Succour - help given to someone
  • Underscore -  to emphasize something, or to show that it is important
  • Incentive - something that encourages a person to do something
  • Elderly -  old people
  • Steeply - suddenly or by a large amount
  • Escalate - to increase
  • Decline - becoming less or worse
  • Five-fold - five times much
  • Exemption - permission to ignore something such as a rule, obligation, or payment
  • Recurring - to happen many times or to happen again
  • Doing away with something - to get rid of something
  • Reimbursement - to give someone the same amount of money that they have spent
  • Allied - similar or related
  • Ceiling - an upper limit set on the number or amount of something
  • In lieu of - instead of
  • Incur -  to lose money, owe money, or have to pay money as a result of doing something
  • Irrespective - despite a particular fact, situation, or quality
  • Cap - a limit on the amount of money that you can spend or charge
  • Annuity - a fixed amount of money that someone receives regularly each year
  • Poverty line - the amount of money considered necessary to live (Someone who is below the poverty line does not have enough money).
  • Contributory - partly responsible for a situation or event
  • Laudable - deserving to be praised or admired
  • Insofar as - used for talking about the degree to which something happens, or the situation in which something happens
  • Chronological - arranged or described in the order in which events happened
  • Demographic - relating to populations
  • Cohort - a group of people who share a characteristic, usually age
  • Rural - relating to the countryside, or in the countryside
  • Hinterland - an area that is a long way from a town or city
  • Initiative - an important action that is intended to solve a problem
  • Incorporate - to include something as a part or as a quality
  • Adequate - good enough or large enough for a particular purpose
  • Outlay - the amount of money that you must spend in order to buy something or to start a new business or project
  • Empowerment - authority or power given to someone to do something
  • Voluntary - a voluntary action is done because you choose to do it, and not because you have to
  • Starkly - clearly
  • Inadequate -  not enough, or not good enough for a particular purpose
  • Comprehensive - including many details or aspects of something
  • Greying - containing an increasing number of older people
  • Demographic - relating to populations

  • Crisis -  an urgent, difficult, or dangerous situation
  • Pit against - to make someone compete or fight against someone or something else
  • Judiciary - the part of government that consists of all the judges and courts in a country
  • Bureaucracy - a complicated and annoying system of rules and processes
  • Contest -  to state formally that you disagree with something or think it is wrong
  • Depose - to force a political leader or a king or queen out of their position of power
  • Sentence - when a judge sentences someone, they officially state what someone’s punishment will be
  • Exile - a situation in which you are forced to live in a foreign country because you cannot live in your own country, usually for political reasons
  • Reinstate -  to give someone their previous job or position again
  • Disqualify - to not allow someone to do something because they have committed an offence
  • Convene - to arrange a formal meeting, or to gather for a meeting
  • Comply - to obey a rule or law, or to do what someone asks you to do
  • Uphold - if a court of law upholds something such as a claim, it says that it is correct
  • Abide by - to follow a rule, decision, or instruction
  • Egregious - extremely bad
  • Imprisonment - the punishment of being put into prison
  • Former - used for describing someone or something that had a particular job title, status etc in the past, but not now
  • Opposition - the political parties in a country that are not part of the government
  • Premises - the buildings and land that a business or organization uses
  • Parliamentarian - a member of a parliament
  • Sack - to tell someone that they can no longer work at their job
  • Amidst - if something happens amid particular feelings or events, it happens while people have these feelings or while these events are happening
  • Turmoil - a state of excitement or uncontrolled activity
  • Monitor - to regularly check something or watch someone in order to find out what is happening
  • Leverage -  power to influence people and get the results you want
  • Commonwealth - a group of countries that have the same political or economic interests
  • Concerted - involving a lot of people or organizations working together in a determined way
  • Persuade - to make someone agree to do something by giving them reasons why they should
  • Steer - to influence the way that something happens or the way that people behave
  • Coercive - using force or threats to make someone do something
  • Means - a method for doing or achieving something
