Hai Friends I'm Kani. Here I'm sharing English Vocabulary from Editorial section of The Hindu News Paper dated 9th January 2018. Happy reading :)

Hindu Editorial Topic 1 : "Data theft: on UIDAI exposé"
  • Exposé -  to fail to protect someone or something from something harmful or dangerous
  • Robust - strong and successful
  • Undercover - working or done secretly in order to catch criminals, get secret information etc
  • So-called - used for showing that you think a word used for describing someone or something is not suitable
  • Sting operations - a deceptive operation designed to catch a person committing a crime
  • Ethical - involving the principles used for deciding what is right and what is wrong
  • To begin with - used for introducing the first thing in a list of things you are going to say
  • Public interest - the fact that the public has a right to know about something because it affects them
  • Breach - to get into a place that is usually guarded, or to discover information that should be kept secret
  • Racket - an illegal activity that makes money
  • Outweigh - to be more important, useful, or valuable than something else
  • Written up - to write a report, article etc using notes that you wrote earlier
  • Travesty - a situation, action, or event that shocks you because it is very different from what it should be or because it seems very unfair
  • Tribune - a word used in the name of some newspapers
  • Accused - the person who is on trial in a law court
  • Impersonation - the act of pretending to be someone else in order to trick people
  • Shooting the messenger - to blame the person who brings bad news, even though it is not their fault
  • Dissuade - to persuade someone not to do something
  • Accountable - in a position where people have the right to criticize you or ask you why something happened
  • Shortcoming - a fault or problem that makes someone or something less effective
  • Culprit - someone who is responsible for doing something bad or illegal
  • Prospect - the possibility that something will happen
  • Belatedly - late or too late
  • Hubbub - the noise of a lot of people talking at the same time, especially when they are angry or excited
  • Misinformation - false or incorrect information, especially when it is intended to trick someone
  • Breach - to break a law, rule, or agreement
  • Perhaps - used for saying that you are not certain about something, or that something may or may not be true
  • Encrypt - to put information into code (=a system of words, numbers, or symbols that hides its real meaning)
  • Biometric -  the recording of things such as people’s fingerprints or the appearance of their eye in order to identify them on an electronic system
  • Mere - only / just
  • Embroider - to make a story more entertaining by adding imaginary details to it
  • Obligatory - something that is obligatory must be done in order to obey a law or rule
  • Comprehensive - including many details or aspects of something
  • Privacy - the freedom to do things without other people watching you or knowing what you are doing
  • Absurd- completely stupid, unreasonable, or impossible to believe
  • Temperament - someone’s temperament is their basic character, for example their tendency to be happy, angry etc
  • Shakespearean - written by William Shakespeare, or relating to the plays and poems he wrote
  • Farce - a situation or event that is silly because it is very badly organized, unsuccessful, or unfair
  • Tell-all - a publication or statement revealing shocking or scandalous information
  • Dysfunction - a failure to work well
  • Chaos - a situation in which everything is confused and in a mess
  • Perhaps - used for saying that you are not certain about something, or that something may or may not be true
  • Disseminate - to make something such as information or knowledge available to a lot of people
  • Furious - extremely angry
  • Impending - an impending event or situation, especially an unpleasant one, is one that will happen very soon
  • Reportedly - used for showing that you are not certain that something you are reporting is true
  • Cease-and-desist - an order from a court stating that someone must stop doing something and never do it again
  • Evident - easy to see, notice, or understand
  • Allegedly - if someone allegedly does something, another person says that they have done it, even though this has not been proved
  • Uncharitable - unkind in what you say or think about someone
  • Gossip - conversation about unimportant subjects, especially people’s private lives
  • Coterie - a small group of people who do things together
  • Rigorous - thorough and careful
  • Profound - very great
  • Consequently -  as a result
  • Amendment - a change made to a law or agreement
  • Clamour - clamour
  • Embattled - experiencing a lot of problems and likely to be defeated or destroyed
  • Mind-boggling - very large, unusual, or complicated and not easy to imagine
  • Realm - a particular area of knowledge, experience, interest etc
  • Knock-on - a knock-on effect is the indirect result of something
  • Consequence - a result or effect of something
