1. RBI retains economic growth projection at 6.7% for FY'18
The Reserve Bank retained economic growth projection for 2017-18 at 6.7 per cent saying that the risks are evenly balanced.
RBI expectedly kept interest rates unchanged but raised the inflation forecast for the remainder of the current financial year to 4.3-4.7 per cent.
The 6-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), headed by Reserve Bank of India Governor Urjit Patel, kept the repo rate unchanged at 6 per cent and reverse repo at 5.75 per cent.

2. India win ninth Test series in a row after Sri Lanka draw
India won a record ninth Test series in succession Wednesday after drawing with Sri Lanka in the pollution-tainted third and final Test in New Delhi.
Top-ranked India won the series 1-0 to equal Australia's record of nine successive Test series victories, between 2005- 2008.

3. Akshay Kumar to promote government's flagship agri-schemes
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will promote the government's flagship agriculture schemes like soil health card and crop insurance.

4. 'MeToo' movement named Time magazine's Person of the Year'
Time magazine named "The Silence Breakers" who revealed the pervasiveness of sexual harassment and assault across various industries that triggered a national reckoning in the United States as Person of the Year.
"The Silence Breakers" designates a broad range of people, mostly women, from this year's first public accusers of disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein to those who shared their stories of abuse using the hashtag #MeToo and its foreign language equivalents.

5. Russia banned from 2018 Winter Olympics over doping
Russia was banned from the 2018 Winter Games by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) over its state-orchestrated doping programme, but clean Russian athletes will be allowed to compete under an Olympic flag.
The sanction was the toughest ever levelled by the IOC for drug cheating and was delivered just 65 days ahead of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
