Directions (Q. No. 11-14) : Study the following pie-chart carefully and answer the questions given below.

There are five shops P, Q, R, S and T. They sell two different novels - 2 states and Revolution 2020. The following pie-chart shows the total number of novels sold by different shops in the month of July 2017.

Total number of novels sold = 1000
  1. If the total number of Revolution 2020 sold by shop Q and that by shop R are equal and the ratio of 2 states sold by shop Q to that sold by shop R is 1 : 2, then find the total number of Revolution 2020 Sold by Q and R together ?
    1. 350
    2. 265
    3. 200
    4. 415
    5. 375
  2. If the total number of Revolution 2020 sold by all the shops together is 48% of the total number of novels sold by all the shops, then find the difference between the number of 2 states sold by all the shops together and the number of Revolution 2020 sold by all the shops together ?
    1. 40
    2. 35
    3. 60
    4. 50
    5. None of these
  3. If the total number of novels sold by shop R is 25% more and that sold by Shop T is 15% more in the following month, then what is the total number of novels sold by shop R and T together in the following month ?
    1. 612
    2. 720
    3. 475
    4. 524
    5. None of these
  4. The total number of novels sold by shop P is equal to 48% of the total novels purchased by Shop P. Then what is the total number of unsold novels of shop P ?
    1. 120
    2. 210
    3. 300
    4. 265
    5. 130

Key & Solutions :

1.

Marks obtained by all the students in Chemistry = 80 + 110 + 110 + 120 + 60 = 480

Marks obtained by S in Chemistry = 120

=> Required Percentage = (120 / 480) x 100% = 25%

Ans : 1

2.

Marks obtained by T in Physics = 50 x (114 / 100) = 57

Now, required percentage

= (57 / 140) x 100% = 40.714 this is approximately equals to 41%

So, Ans : 5

3.

Marks obtained by T in Physics = 50

Marks obtained by T in Chemistry = 60

=> Total marks obtained by T in both subjects = 50 + 60 = 110

Marks obtained by R in Physics = 80

Ans : 2

4.

Total Marks of P = 130 + 80 = 210

Total marks of T = 50 + 60 = 110

Now, ratio of total marks obtained by P and T

= 210/110 = 21 : 11

Ans : 5

5.

Marks obtained by Q in Chemistry = 110

Marks obtained by S in Chemistry = 120

=> Total Marks of Q and S in Chemistry = 110 + 120 = 230

Marks obtained by P in Physics = 130

Marks obtained by R in Physics = 80

=> Total Marks of P and R in Physics = 130 + 80 = 210

Now, required ratio

= 230/210 = 23/21 = 23 : 21

Ans : 2

6.

Required ratio = 40 : 60 = 2 : 3

Ans : 2

7.

Required fraction = (30000 - 22500) / 30000 = 1/4

8.

Total number of candidates from Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata = (22500 + 27500 + 17500) = 67500

Total number of candidates from Patna, Ranchi and Lucknow = (30000 + 20000 + 25000) = 75000

=> Required ratio

= 67500 : 7500 = 9 : 10

Ans : 4

9.

Total number of female candidates

= (25 + 20 + 22.5 + 30 + 17.5 + 2.75) x 1000 x (40/100)

= 142500 x (40/100) = 57000

Total number of female candidates from Mumbai

= 57000 x (24/100) = 13680

Total number of candidates from Patna = 30000

=> Required percent = (13680 / 30000) x 100 = 45.6%

Ans : 5

10.

Total number of candidates from Lucknow = 25000

Female candidates from Ranchi = 57000 x (6/100) = 3420

=> Difference = (25000 - 3420)

= 21580

Ans : 3

11.

Let the number of Revolution 2020 sold by shop Q be X

Then, (14% of 1000 - x) / (18% of 1000 - x) = 1/2

280 - 2x = 180 - x

x = 100

The number of Revolution 2020 sold by both shop Q and R together = 100 + 100 = 200

Ans : 3

12.

Total number of Revolution 2020 sold by all the shops together = 48 x (1000 / 100) = 480

=> Number of   2 states sold by all the shops together

= 1000 - 480 = 520

=> Required difference

= 520 - 480 = 40

Ans : 1

13.

Required number of novels sold by R and T together in the next month = 18% of 1000 x (125/100) = 26% of 1000 x (115/100)

= 18 x 10 x 1.25 + 26 x 10 x 1.15

= 225 + 299 = 524

Ans : 4

14.

Total number of novels sold by shop P = 12% of 1000 = 120

Total number of novels purchased by Shop P

120 x (1000 / 48) = 250

=> Required number of unsold novels = 250 - 120 = 130

Ans : 5
