SSC JE 2017 FAQ

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the recruitment notification for the post of Junior Engineers (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, & Quantity Surveying & Contract) on 20th October 2017.

Pay Scale: Level-6 (Rs.35400-112400/-) of pay matrix of 7th CPC 

When will the registration start?
The facility of on-line application (including payment of fees through debit card) will be available from 21-10-2017 to 17-11-2017 (upto 5.00 PM). However, candidates who wish to make the payment through challan of SBI, may make the payment to designated branches of SBI within the working hours of bank up to 20.11.2017 provided the challan has been generated by them before 5.00 PM of 17.11.2017.

When will  the exam be conducted?
Staff Selection Commission will hold the examination from 5th January 2018 to 08th January 2018  in a computer based pattern.

What is the age criteria to apply in this Examination?
Different post have different age criteria. Candidates are required to make sure about their age and qualification before applying for the examination. Age-Relaxation Permissible beyond the Upper age limit.

What will be the mode of applying the examination?
Candidate please note that only online applications will be accepted at http://ssconline.nic.in.

What would be the fee structure?
General Candidates: Rs 100/-
Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen (eligible for reservation) are exempted from paying application fee as per extant Government Orders.

What will be the Required Qualification?

Post Qualification
Junior Engineer (Civil) Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institute.
Junior Engineer (Electrical) Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institution.
Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Institution.

Note: Please note that Different Post has different Essential qualification with some post requiring  experience also.

What will be the mode of  SSC  Examination?

Mode of Examination : Examination will be held in a computer based pattern. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I.


What will be the Scheme of Examination?

Morning shift [10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon]
Afternoon Shift [2.00 PM to 4.00 PM]
Note: Entry to the examination venue will not be allowed after 9.30 AM in the morning shift and after 1.30 PM in the afternoon shift.

Paper -II will be held in a written format
Paper - II Marks Time
Part-A General Engineering (Civil & Structural) 300 2 Hrs.
OR
Part- B General Engineering (Electrical) 300 2 Hrs.
OR
Part-C General Engineering (Mechanical) 300 2 Hrs.

Note: Date for the Paper-II to be intimated later on.

What will be the items that one has to carry along with Admit card?
Candidates should bring 3 passport size colour photographs. Candidates not carrying photographs may not be allowed to appear in the examination. In case the scanned photograph(s) appearing in the Commission’s copy of Admission Certificate and or on Attendance Sheet is not clear invigilators are required to verify the identity of the Candidate with reference to the photo ID Proof and get colour photographs pasted on the Commission’s copy of Admission Certificate and or on Attendance Sheet

Can Candidates use  Calculator, Logarithm Tables etc?

Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II only. They are not allowed to use such aids for Paper-I.

What will be criteria of Selection?

Candidates will be shortlisted and recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of their total marks in the Paper – I & II and preference for the posts.
