- Carnage - a situation in which there is a lot of death and destruction
- Lax - not paying enough attention to rules, or not caring enough about quality or safety
- Gun control - laws that prevent people from keeping and using guns

- A myriad of something - an extremely large number of people or things, especially one that is too large to count
- Spokesperson - someone whose job is to officially represent an organization, for example in dealing with journalists

- Campaign - a series of actions intended to produce political or social change
- Pandered to someone / something - to do or say what someone wants in order to please them, even though you know it is not right
- Fear-mongering - the process of saying or doing something in order to deliberately make people feel worried or frightened
- Proclivity - a tendency to want to do a particular thing, especially something bad
- Amendment - a change made to a law or agreement
- Stringent - stringent rules or conditions are strict and make you achieve high standards
- Tragedy - a very sad event that causes people to suffer or die
