All is not Lost, More Than three Weeks left For SSC CGL 2017

Dear Students, In competitive exams, the biggest factor in your success is time management. All the students are making dedicated efforts but only those who will manage their time wisely and effectively, they will score high marks in SSC CGL exam. Before starting on your journey you must ensure to follow the below-mentioned points only then you can expect any drastic improvement in your speed and accuracy.

There are total four sections in SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam and you should attempt first, the section with which you are most comfortable. You need to use minimum time in your strong subject and you this remaining time in solving difficult topics. Always attempt easy questions first, these correct answers will improve your confidence, and it will reflect in your over all marks. In quant sections, solve simple calculations based, formula based questions first, then solve difficult ones. Important thing is to leave unknown or difficult questions. for the english section, attempt vocab based questions first, then check if RC is an easy one, then attempt it otherwise attempt grammar based questions. In reasoning, solve figure based questions first, then number series etc. in General awareness section, attempt only those questions which you are sure about. Remember, there is negative marking of 25%, so be tread carefully. 

  • Basics: This applies to all the competitive exams,  Before doing anything sit and learn: tables, squares, cubes , reciprocals till 30 along with basic calculation techniques like knowing how to find squares of 65,75,85 or any other given number orally. Your complete understanding of fundamentals of all subjects will make your journey easier and time saving as well. For last moments studies, your basics will come handy. 
  • Practice and familiarity: Unlike other exams, SSC CGL's questions are repetitive in nature and you can pretty much predict the question types with enough practice. Practice two mock tests daily and read any standard book at least thrice so that you get familiar with the pattern of the exam.
  • Practice Mocks: Mocks are an indispensable part of the preparation and are not to be avoided even in the initial stages of preparation. Keep solving papers out of the blue even if you haven't learned a particular chapter. These mock tests will give you the real idea about your preparation. analyse mocks, improve and learn. 
  • Time management: Whatever tests you are writing, chapter wise or full length, time yourself on a stopwatch. Needless to say, this helps your brain become accustomed to a time-based approach rather than meaningless meanderings. Always appear in mock tests in time bound manner and try to score in less than 60 minutes.  
  • You should Expect the unexpected: Learn to be enthusiastic about solving vocabulary quizzes, reasoning puzzles, crosswords, aptitude questions and in general all form of quant questions. This will help you in case the exam is on unexpected patterns.
