1.Stranded (adjective)
Meaning: left without the means to move from somewhere.
Example: In 1997, a dramatic scene played out near Los Angeles as a new-born grey whale was discovered stranded in Marina del Rey. It had become separated from its mother during the annual migration from Alaska to Mexico.


2.Ostensibly (adverb)
Meaning: as appears or is stated to be true, though not necessarily so; apparently.
synonyms: apparently, seemingly, on the face of it, to all appearances, on the surface, to all intents and purposes, outwardly, superficially, allegedly, professedly, supposedly, purportedly;
Example: In January he pulled out of the 12-nation trade pact in Asia ­ another of his election promises. Ostensibly these and many other isolationist acts are designed to create jobs and reduce the country's trade deficit.

3.Dubious (adjective)
Meaning: hesitating or doubting.
synonyms: doubtful, uncertain, unsure, in doubt, hesitant;
Example: Trump will discover that for the dubious gain of a few thousand jobs that might be generated America and the rest of the world will pay now and far into the future a heavy economic and diplomatic price. 

4.Disseminate (verb)
Meaning: spread (something, especially information) widely.
Synonyms: spread, circulate, distribute, disperse, diffuse, proclaim, promulgate, propagate, publicize, communicate, pass on, make known, put about
Example: At the local level, capacity building enables the community to make decisions and disseminate them to the appropriate authorities, thus influencing political processes. 

5.Renaissance (noun)
Meaning: the revival of European art and literature under the influence of classical models in the 14th–16th centuries.a revival of or renewed interest in something.
Example: The fine balance struck by India and the U.S. culminated in the Agenda 21, raising hopes 
for a renaissance in the areas of both environment and development.

6.Mitigation (noun)
Meaning: the action of reducing the severity, seriousness, or painfulness of something.
Synonyms: alleviation, reduction, diminution, lessening, easing, weakening, lightening.
Example: The Accord deals with the global commitments of countries regarding emissions, mitigation, adaptation and financing from 2020. The allegation that China, Russia and India are only contributing to pollution and not to climate change fund has no basis whatsoever.

7.Commensurate (adjective)
Meaning: corresponding in size or degree; in proportion.
Synonyms: equivalent, equal, corresponding, correspondent, comparable, proportionate.
Example: The advantage that the U.S. and other developed countries have gained from the Paris Accord is that all economies, including China and India, are being made to take action on climate change without any commensurate guarantees from the former on funding and transfer of technology.

8.Enormous (adjective)
Meaning: very large in size, quantity, or extent.
Synonyms: huge, vast, extensive, expansive, broad, wide;
But there is cause for concern. Internet companies’ control of data gives them enormous power.

9.Ubiquitous (adjective)
Meaning: present, appearing, or found everywhere.
Synonyms: omnipresent, ever-present, present everywhere, everywhere, all-over, all over the place, pervasive, all-pervasive, universal, worldwide, global;
Example: What has changed? Smartphones and the internet have made data abundant, ubiquitous and far more valuable.

10.Abundance (noun)
Meaning: a very large quantity of something.
Example: This abundance of data changes the nature of competition. Technology giants have always benefited from network effects: the more users Facebook signs up, the more attractive signing up becomes for others.
