Directions (Q. 1-5): Study the following information and answer the questions that follow:

The graph given below represents the profit (in crore) of three banks Federal Bank, Yes Bank and HDFC Bank.
Profit = Income – Expenditure

1.In 2014, the profit of Federal Bank is what percentage of the total profit of HDFC Bank and Yes Bank together?
1). In 2014, profit of Federal Bank = 4.5 crore
Profit of Banks (HDFC Bank + Yes Bank) = (6 + 3) = 9 crore
Required% = 4.5/9 × 100
= 50%.
Answer: A
2.In the year 2014, the income of HDFC Bank is 40 crore. If the income of Federal Bank is 20% more than that of HDFC Bank in that year, what is the expenditure of Federal Bank in the year 2014?
2).Income of HDFC Bank in the year 2014 = 40 crore
Income of Federal Bank in the year 2014 = 40 (1 + 20/100) = 48 crore
Now, profit of Federal Bank in the year 2014 = 4.5 crore
Expenditure of Federal Bank in the year 2014
= (48 - 4.5) crore
= 43.5 crore.
Answer: E

3. What is percentage increase in the profit of Yes Bank from 2013 to 2016?
3).Profit of Yes Bank in the year 2013 = 2 crore
Profit of Yes Bank in the year 2016 = 6.5 crore
Increase = (6.5 - 2) = 4.5 crore
% increase = 4.5/2 × 100
= 225%.
Answer: C

4.If the expenditures of Federal Bank and HDFC Bank in the year 2015 are 75 crore and 68 crore respectively, what is the ratio of the income of Federal Bank to that of HDFC Bank?
4).Expenditure of Federal Bank in the year 2015 is 75 crore.
Profit of Federal Bank in year 2015 is 4 crore.
Income of Federal Bank in year 2015 = 75 + 4 = 79 crore
Now, expenditure of HDFC Bank in the year 2015 is 68 crore.
Profit of HDFC Bank in the year 2015 is 7 crore.
Income of HDFC Bank in the year 2015 = 68 + 7 = 75 crore
Required ratio = 79 : 75.
Answer: D
5. What is the average income of all three banks in the year 2016, if the expenditure is 50%, 60% and 80% more than the profits of Federal Bank, Yes Bank and HDFC Bank respectively?
5). In the year 2016 profit of Federal Bank = 6 crore
Expenditure = 6 × (1 + 50/100) = 9 crore
Income = (9 + 6) = 15 crore
Profit of Yes Bank in the year 2016 = 6.5 crore
Expenditure = 6.5 × (1 + 60/100) = 6.5 × 8/5
= 1.3 × 8
= 10.4 crore
Hence, Income = (6.5 + 10.4) = 16.9 crore
Again, Profit of HDFC Bank in the year 2016 = 5 crore
Expenditure = 5 (1 + 80/100)
= 5 × 9/8
= 9 crore
Hence, Income = (9 + 5) = 14 crore
Now, average income of all three banks
= 1/3 × (15 + 16.9 + 14)
= 45.9/3
= 15.3 crore.
Answer: B

Directions (Q. 6-10): The following bar-graph shows the number of adult Males and Females of six states and the line graph shows percentage of adult Males and Females who graduated in the last year:

6.What is the difference between the total number of Males and the total number of Males who graduated in the last year?
6). Total Males = 70 + 48 + 60 + 56 + 75 + 40 = 349 thousand
Total Male graduates = 70 × 0.8 + 48 × 0.7 + 60 × 0.56 + 56 × 0.7 + 75 × 0.45 + 40 × 0.75
= 56 + 33.6 + 33.6 + 39.2 + 33.75 + 30
= 226.15 thousand
Difference = 349 - 226.15
= 122.85 thousand.
Answer: B

7. The total number of Females from Sikkim, Bihar and Gujarat who graduated in the last year is approximately what percentage less than the total number of Males from the same state who graduated in the last year?

Female graduated in Bihar = 50000 × 72/100 = 36000
Female graduated in Gujarat = 72000 × 50/100 = 36000
Total = 94500
Male graduated in Sikkim = 40000 × 75/100 = 30000
Male graduated in Bihar = 48000 × 70/100 = 33600
Male graduated in Gujarat = 60000 × 0.56 = 33600
Total = 97200
Required per cent = (97200 – 94500)/ 97200 × 100
= 2700/97200 × 100
= 2.77% ≈ 3%.
Answer: E

Male graduated in Bihar = 48000 × 0.70 = 33600
Male graduated in Haryana = 56000 × 0.70 = 39200
Male graduated in Rajasthan = 75000 × 0.45 = 33750
Male graduated in Sikkim = 40000 × 0.75 = 30000
Male graduated in Gujarat = 60000 × 0.56 = 33600
Male graduated in Gujarat and Bihar are same.
Answer: B

Female graduated in Sikkim = 25000 × 90/100 = 22500
Female graduated in Gujarat = 72000 × 50/100 = 36000
Total = 48000 +22500 + 36000 = 106500
Male graduated in Assam = 70000 × 80/100 = 56000
Male graduated in Bihar = 48000 × 70/100 = 33600
Total = 56000 + 33600 = 89600
Required per cent = 106500 / 89600 × 100
= 118.86%.
Answer: D

10.What is the difference between the total numbers of females from all the six states together who graduated in the last year to the total number of males from all six states together who not graduated in the last year?
10). Total Females = 64000 × 0.75 + 50000 × 0.72 + 72000 × 0.5 + 80000 × 0.65 + 72000 × 0.48 + 25000 × 0.9
= 48000 + 36000 + 36000 + 52000 + 34560 + 22500 = 229060
Total Males not graduated = 70 × 0.2 + 48 × 0.3 + 60 × 0.44 + 56 × 0.3 + 75 × 0.55 + 40 × 0.25
= 14000 + 14400 + 26400 + 16800 + 41250 + 10000 = 122850
Difference = 106210.
