Bengaluru has become the country's first city to deliver diesel at home

Bengaluru has become the country's first city where one can have fuel delivered at one's doorstep, just like milk and newspapers, only weeks after oil ministry announced that the Centre was thinking of rolling out such a system. Mypetrolpump, a one-year-old startup, conducted a soft launch with three delivery vehicles -each with a capacity of 950 litres. Diesel is delivered at the day's running price with a fixed delivery charge. For up to 100 litres, the one-time delivery charge is Rs.99. Above 100 litres, one needs to pay the diesel price plus one additional rupee per litre.

West Bengal Government's Kanyashree Prakalpa was awarded the first prize in United Nations Public Service Award for Asia Pacific. Out of 552 initiatives from 62 different countries, West Bengal Government's initiative was chosen the best. The award was presented at The Hague, Netherlands. Kanyashree Prakalpa is a targeted conditional cash transfer scheme aimed at retaining girls in schools and other educational and skill development institutions and preventing child marriage.

Venkaiah Naidu inaugurates ‘Homes For All’ property show in Ahmedabad

Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Poverty Alleviation Venkaiah Naidu inagurated the ‘Homes For All’ property show organized by Ahmedabad Municipal corporation and GIHED CREDAI today in Ahmedabad.
The minister urged banks to invest more in the infrastructure sector. On the occasion, Mr. Naidu launched several smart initiatives such as Janmitra Card -‘One Card Many Services’, AMC Seva Mobile Application, Amdavad Airport Shuttle Service, Intelligent Transit Management System among others. He felicitated the beneficiaries of credit link subsidy on the occasion. Mr. Naidu said that first of its kind in India, the Janmitra card enables multimodal transport journey payments like Transit Services Ticketing for BRTS, AMTS and in the future for Metro and Airport Bus Shuttle Service, Payments for Municipal Services, Payment for any other retail transaction. He said his government has put in place an enabling eco-system to speedily promote affordable housing.

Government clears proposal for setting up new airport in Greater Noida

Government has cleared proposal for setting up a new airport in Jewar in Greater Noida. Briefing media in New Delhi, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, in-principle approval for a greenfield airport at Jewar has been granted to cater to the growing flying requirements of National Capital Region. He said, the Noida International Airport will cater to 30 to 50 million passengers per year over the next 10 to 15 years. The Minister also said the area notified for Noida Airport is three thousand hectares and the first phase will be developed for one thousand hectares. He said they are expecting 15 to 20 thousand crore rupees of investment. Mr Raju said his Ministry will continue to add significant airport capacity all over the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today embarked on a three-nation visit. In the first leg of his tour, he will reach Portuguese capital, Lisbon. After Portugal, the Prime Minister will depart for the US capital, Washington DC. During his two-day US visit, the Prime Minister will meet its President, Donald Trump. This will be the first meeting between the two leaders. In the last leg of his tour, Mr. Modi will visit The Netherlands for bilateral talks with his counterpart, Mr. Mark Rutte.

Central bank has extended the scope of Banking Ombudsman Scheme

Central bank has extended the scope of Banking Ombudsman Scheme. As per RBI, under the amended scheme, a customer would also be able to lodge a complaint against the bank for its non-adherence to RBI instructions with regard to mobile banking/ electronic banking services in India. As per the amendment, the pecuniary jurisdiction of the Banking Ombudsman to pass an award has been doubled to 20 lakh rupees. The Reserve Bank extended the scope of Banking Ombudsman Scheme under which banks could be penalized for mis-selling third-party products like insurance and mutual funds via mobile or electronic banking.

Urban development secretary Rajiv Gauba will be the new home secretary after the completion of the tenure of Rajiv Mehrishi on August 30. The 1982-batch officer of the Jharkhand cadre will join immediately as an officer on special duty (OSD) in the home ministry.

AGREEMENTS
EPFO has signed an MoU with Housing and Urban Development Corporation for housing subsidy under PMAY
Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has signed an MoU with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) to enable members of its housing scheme to avail subsidy and interest subvention under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Under the housing scheme, the EPFO allows its subscribers for withdrawing up to 90 per cent of their EPF accumulations to buy homes. The MoU was signed in New Delhi. Now, EPFO members can avail interest subsidy upto two lakh twenty thousand rupees in Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme through HUDCO and National Housing Bank for those members whose annual income is less that the amount specified in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.
India and Russia have agreed to a roadmap for the development of bilateral defense cooperation
India and Russia have agreed to a roadmap for the development of bilateral defense cooperation. The roadmap includes specific activities to be concluded by both sides, and aims to enhance cooperation in the field of political and military dialogue, exercises, exchange of visits, military cooperation and training of military personnel. The agreement was reached at the 17th meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation held in Moscow. The meeting took place was held under the Co-Chairmanship of the Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and the Defence Minister of Russia Sergei Shoigu.
