Taj hotel - 1st Indian building to get trademark

The 114-year-old Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai has got itself trademarked, making it the first building in India to do so, according to reports. The move aims to protect the building's distinctiveness, which was built even before the Gateway of India. The hotel now joins other trademarked properties in the world like the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower.

New trains to Nayagarh in Odisha through video-conferencing flagged off by Prabhu
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will flag off new trains to Nayagarh in Odisha through video-conferencing from Rail Bhawan in New Delhi. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be present on the occasion. The Railway Minister will also inaugurate a new railway station at Nayagarh town on Khurda-Bolangir railway line.

For financially backward people of State, Venkaiah launches Urban housing project
To give push to the National Mission of Housing for All in Andhra Pradesh, Union Minister of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation M Venkaiah Naidu today launched the urban housing project for financially backward people of state. The programme was launched through video conferencing from the national capital at a programme held in Vijayawada. The affordable housing project will be built in G+3 stories across 38 urban spaces in the State.

Ministry of Culture launches ‘National Mission on Cultural Mapping of India’
Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture & Tourism launched the implementation of the ‘National Mission on Cultural Mapping of India’ at Goverdhan Block, Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh. This Mission is part of the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” umbrella. Ministry of Culture launched it in the year of commemoration of the birth centenary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, who hailed from Mathura.

'Tech Visa' for woo tech industry launched by French President Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron launched 'French Tech Visa', a fast-track four-year residence permit for entrepreneurs and their families. Talking about the need to reduce regulation and become a "country of unicorns", Macron said, "We want the pioneers, the innovators, the entrepreneurs of the world to come to France and work with us on all possible innovation."

Brexit negotiations begin in Brussels
Nearly three months after Article 50 was triggered, Britain and the European Union today in Brussels started negotiations on the terms on which UK will leave the bloc after 44 years of membership. The negotiations come amid continued uncertainty in UK after PM Theresa May failed to secure a Parliamentary majority which could have strengthened her position in the negotiations.

Bankruptcy proceedings directed by RBI for Lanco, shares dip 20%
Lanco Infratech has said that RBI directed its lead lender IDBI Bank to initiate insolvency proceedings for the company under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. The company is among 12 firms identified by the central bank with 25% of the total bad loans in the banking system. Notably, shares of Lanco tanked 20% to a record low after the confirmation.

China to send Mini-Ecosystems to the Moon
China is planning to send mini-ecosystems comprising of potato seeds and silkworm eggs to the Moon by next year. The move is aimed at studying how the organisms develop in Moon.
Salient Highlights:
·        The 3-kilogramme mini-ecosystem will be developed by research teams under the leadership of Chongqing University in China.
·        The mini-ecosystems would be sent to the moon by Chang’e 4 which is scheduled to be launched in 2018.

NASA’s Orion Spacecraft Clears Safety Tests
NASA’s Orion Spacecraft which has been designed to carry astronauts to deep space destinations like Moon and Mars has successfully carried out a series of tests to test its critical safety systems.
Salient highlights:
·        NASA test fired Orion’s launch abort system by firing the 17-foot tall motor for five seconds. The test was successful as the motor produced enough thrust and thus qualifying for future missions with astronauts.
·        The Orion Multi-purpose Crew Vehicle was announced to be built by NASA on May 24, 2011. The new spacecraft is currently under development. NASA has named the Orion spacecraft after the largest constellation in the night sky. 
·        NASA is building the Orion spacecraft by making use of its 50 years experience in spaceflight research and development.

Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has set the record for most appearances by a player in ICC tournament finals, with the Champions Trophy final against Pakistan on Sunday being his career's seventh. Yuvraj has played three Champions Trophy finals in 2000, 2002 and 2017, two World T20 finals in 2007 and 2014, and two World Cup finals in 2003 and 2011.
India's hockey team registered its biggest win over Pakistan with the final tally of 7-1 in the Hockey World League 2017 Semi-Final on Sunday. This was India's 56th win over Pakistan in the 168th match between the two nations. Akashdeep Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Talwinder Singh scored braces, while Pardeep Mor scored one goal for India.
Pakistan won their first ever Champions Trophy title after beating defending champions India by 180 runs in the tournament final on Sunday. Pakistan last won an ICC ODI tournament 25 years ago when they had lifted the 1992 World Cup. The match was only the third instance of India being beaten by the arch-rivals in an ICC tournament.
