Banking & Finance

RBI's corrective action plan
RBI lowered the threshold needed for implementing a Corrective Action Plan. A minimum of 60% of creditors by value and 50% of creditors by number will now be valid. Earlier, 75% of the lenders by value and 60% by number needed to sign off on a CAP.

Reconstructing of PSU bank boards
The government of India announced a major restructuring of the PSU bank boards with the appointment of new heads of seven PSU banks and a reshuffle of the management of Punjab National Bank and Bank of India.

BOI cut lending rates
Bank of India has cut its marginal cost of funds-based lending rates by 5-10 basis points for May. The revised rates are in the 8.25-8.40 per cent range.

SBI lowers interest rate
State Bank of India (SBI) cut rates on home loans of up to Rs30 lakh by 25 basis points for new borrowers. The rate was reduced to 8.35% from 8.60%. For loans ranging from Rs30 lakh to Rs75 lakh, the bank has cut rates by 10 basis points.

First Point of sale insurance
Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance launched PoS Saral Nivesh -- the first product to be approved by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India's (IRDAI) guidelines on point of sale-life insurance products.

Cashback.com & YES bank tied up
Cashback portal Cashkaro.com has tied up with YES Bank to launch card-linked offers as part of its loyalty programme for both offline and online shoppers.

LIC launched Grihi Sidhi
LIC Housing Finance has come up with a new home loan product ‘Griha Siddhi’ under which women can borrow loans up to Rs. 25 lakh at an interest rate of 8.35 per cent per annum. For other borrowers, the interest rate will be 8.40 per cent.
