1. Ascertain [as-er-teyn]
Verb: to find out definitely; learn with certainty or assurance; determine; Archaic. to make certain, clear, or definitely known.
Synonyms: confirm, determine, divine, double-check, find out, verify, check, dig, discover, establish, eye, eyeball, fix, identify.
Antonyms: disprove, invalidate, aid, assist, confuse, destroy, help, ignore, look away.

2. Suspect [verb suh-spekt; noun suhs-pekt; adjective suhs-pekt, suh-spekt]
Verb: to believe to be guilty, false, counterfeit, undesirable, defective, bad, etc., with little or no proof.
Noun: a person who is suspected, especially one suspected of a crime, offense, or the like.
Adjective: suspected; open to or under suspicion.
Synonyms: open, pseudo, suspected, thick, thin, doubtable, dubious, fishy.
Antonyms: innocent, known, trusted, trustworthy.
3. Sabotage [sab-uh-tahzh, sab-uh-tahzh]
Noun: any underhand interference with production, work, etc., in a plant, factory, etc., as by enemy agents during wartime or by employees during a trade dispute.
Verb: to injure or attack by sabotage.
Synonyms: destruction, disruption, subversion, treachery, treason, vandalism, demolition, impairment, injury.
Antonyms: devotion, faithfulness, fidelity, loyalty, aiding, assistance.
Example: Senior sources in the party also said the Opposition and specifically Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s move to emphasise its alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has led to a situation where both factions of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) would, in all likelihood, support the NDA’s candidate.
4. Emphasise [em-fuh-sahyz]
Verb: to give emphasis to; lay stress upon; stress.
Synonyms: accentuate, affirm, assert, highlight, indicate, maintain, point out, reiterate, repeat, underline.
Antonyms: deny, lose, mumble, depreciate, forget, ignore.
5. Alliance [uh-lahy-uh ns]
Noun: the act of allying or state of being allied; a formal agreement or treaty between two or more nations to cooperate for specific purposes; a merging of efforts or interests by persons, families, states, or organizations.
Synonyms: accord, affiliation, affinity, betrothal, bond, coalition, coherence, collaboration, collusion, combination, communion.
Antonyms: antagonism, detachment, disagreement, disconnection, discord, disunity, division, divorce.
6. Faction [fak-shuh n]
Noun: a group or clique within a larger group, party, government, organization, or the like; party strife and intrigue; dissension.
Synonyms: bloc, clan, gang, junta, minority, party, sect, side, wing, band, bunch.
Antonyms:  individual, whole, agreement, conformity, peace, total, unity.
Example: Besides the pleasant, dewypetrichorof the post-rain afternoon, there is no hope or way out of a four-hour ride with the enigmaticmumbler.
7. Dewy [doo-ee, dyoo-ee]
Adjective: moist with or as if with dew; having the quality of dew.
Synonyms: cloudy, dank, drizzly, misty, moist, muggy, saturated, soaked, sodden, soggy.
Antonyms: dry, arid, dessicated, dried, parched.
8. Petrichor [pe-trahy-kawr, ‐ker]
Noun: a distinctive scent, usually described as earthy, pleasant, or sweet, produced by rainfall on very dry ground.
9. Enigmatic [en-ig-mat-ik, ee-nig-]
Adjective: resembling an enigma, or a puzzling occurrence, situation, statement, person, etc.; perplexing; mysterious.
Synonyms: ambiguous, cryptic, obscure, dark, Delphian, doubtful, enigmatical, equivocal, incomprehensible, indecipherable.
Antonyms: clear, explicit, obvious, known, plain.
10. Mumbler [muhm-buh l-er]
Noun: that makes a low, indistinct utterance or sound.
