Data Analysis & Interpretation:

DI section tests the data interpretation and problem solving ability of the applicant, wherein a candidate has to analyze the given data and solve the questions related to it. The data is usually in the form of graphs, charts, tables and paragraphs. For this matter, you first need to analyse the data. Learn techniques for quick calculations, shortcuts etc. Tables, squares and cubes should be at your finger tips. The more you practice, both in your concept preparation and in your practice tests, the higher will be your speed and accuracy in the actual SBI PO Mains. Solve different question types pertaining to Graphs and Caselets and practice DI questions regularly.

Before solving any DI question, have a look at the options. The difference in the magnitude of options will tell you 'how much you can approximate'. This single thing will save you a lot of time and frustration during the exam and while preparing for it.

Some best practices while dealing with Data interpretation are,

·        Be clear on what is given and what is asked.

·        See how much effort is required to get the required data from the given data.

·        if a question demand unreasonable efforts, LEAVE those questions and come back if possible.

·        Focus only on useful data

·        Never lose your heart if you see lot of data. Until you are able to comprehend the given data, you are good to go.

·        Do ONLY what is required. Don’t try to keep data ready before solving!

·        Approximate wherever possible.

And remember the following points -

·        In a circular Graph or Charts 100% =360 Degree .

·        Remember formulas and have a very good understanding of Percentages, Averages, Approx. Values and Ratios.

·        As you get better with calculations, try calculating in your mind.

·        As negative marking (penalty) for wrong answers, marks equal to one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. So that Be Accurate on your Answers..

Reasoning and Computer Aptitude:

For Reasoning Section, first prepare those topics which can get you more marks in less time! These topics have more weightage in the exam or can be less time consuming to solve. You can achieve 100% accuracy (number of right answers) such topics.

Such topics are:

(1) Verbal Reasoning – You can expect 5-10 questions from Verbal Reasoning, based on Cause and effect, statement and assumption, statement and inference, course of action, statement and arguments, critical reasoning. You need to have a strong base in English to be able to solve these questions quickly with decent accuracy.

(2) Computer Aptitude – 5 to 7 Questions are asked in SBI PO Mains to test your computer efficacy. These questions are generally in the form of Flow Chart, Binary Logic, Number System, etc. High accuracy possible.

(3)Coding Decoding, Coded Inequalities, Syllogisms, Machine Input Output, Data Sufficiency – These topics can be asked for 3-5 questions each and thus account for 15-25 Qs in total! If you work hard enough on these topics, will be easily able to cross the reasoning section cut off in SBI PO Mains 2017 and will also improve your chances of crossing the cut off.

(4) Blood Relations – There can be 3-4 Qs based on General Statement based problems, Family Tree Problems and Coded Blood Relations in the mains. Once you master the General Understanding of Blood Relations you can easily learn how to solve Complex Blood Relations. Make sure you take a few basic and advanced level quizzes to practice the shortcuts for both kinds of Blood relation problems.

(5) Puzzles – Puzzles in SBI PO Mains 2017 are going to be very time consuming for you if you don’t practice enough to get a hold of the shortcuts and tricks applied in these types of questions. Practice Circular Arrangement (most likely to come for 5-7Qs), Linear Arrangement (5Qs may or may not be asked), Grouping and Scheduling (3-5Qs), Ordering and Ranking (2-3Qs) and Double Line up (5-10Qs) can be asked for puzzles. Make sure you practice them regularly.

(6) Direction & Distance – Make sure you solve Direction and Distance problems while attempting Mock Tests, with special attention. Try to solve 1-2 Qs within 4-5 minutes in this topic. Single Statement Direction & Distance problem, Routes & Network based problem.

General Awareness (Economy/ Banking):

Most of the GA questions will be related to Banking, Finance and Economy. In the time that you have until the exam, make sure you have the knowledge about:

·        Finance Committees and related reforms

·        Changes in Growth Rate of various sectors and parts of the economy – Agriculture, Industry, EX-IM, etc.

·        Basic Macroeconomic Concepts like CAD, Foreign Trade, etc.

·        Reforms in RBI Monetary Policy since last year.

·        Important Banks and their headquarters.

·        Important Financial Institutions (Indian and International).

·        Micro and Macro Financing Institutions in the country and Rural Banks

·        Union Budget 2017.

Attempt everyday at least 35 questions of GA within 30 minutes.

English to Prepare for SBI PO Mains 2017

(1) Reading Comprehension – You should get into the habit of looking for keywords while reading the passage. Keywords help you track the answers to various questions very accurately within seconds!

Practice on topics related to Banking & Economy, Business, Geo-politics, Governance, Education, Technology, Transport and Social Issues. Synonyms, Antonyms, meanings of Idioms/Phrases, Theme and main idea, inference based questions are also asked related to the passage.

Make sure you are able to attempt the 2 sets of RC (each having 6-7 qs) within 20-25 minutes. Make sure you read properly and with concentration because most questions in Mains will be inference based!

2) Synonyms or Antonyms: We have to find the word that is either closest in meaning or most opposite in meaning to the given word from the given list of words. You can expect 5 to 7 Qs of this type.

3) Error Spotting / Phrase Replacement:Two words highlighted in each sentence to be replaced. We have get to know the meaning of those highlighted words with respective to the Sentence and then we have to replace accordingly.

(4)  Para-Jumbled/ Odd Man Out/– 4 to 6 Qs can be asked from these, which you can practice by solving at least 10 Qs daily + mock tests. Question will have 6 sentences which will need to be rearranged to form a meaningful paragraph. Sometimes odd sentence which does not follow the theme of passage can also be asked. Generally, you can find out the last and the first sentence very easily.

(5) Para Completion/ Fillers – Paragraph with missing sentence to be filled. The Sentence should be correctly matched according to the theme of the Paragraph. More On Practice will reveal all sort of your doubts and give you more marks in the exams.

Descriptive paper in English language shall be for 50 marks (30 minutes).It would contain questions such as letter writing & essay, that should also be answered on computer only. This paper consists of letter writing & essay writing along with separate scores for each category.
