India's Ranking in Various Lists Released in 2017

101st in the world in World’s Men’s Football teams

• India has jumped 31 places from its previous position of 132, and is now ranked 101st in the world in World’s Men’s Football teams. Currently, India shares this spot with three other countries — Nicaragua, Lithuania, and Estonia. 
• It is ranked as 11th best Asian nation. 
• This is the highest ever ranking that India has achieved in the last two decades. The ranking has been given by International Federation of Association Football" (FIFA). 
• Brazil holds the 1st rank. Iran holds the 1st rank in Asia and 28th rank in the worldwide list. 

40th position in tourism rankings worldwide

• According to the World Economic Forum (WEF) report, India stood at 40th position in 2016 in tourism rankings worldwide. 
• It has improved from 52nd rank in 2015 and 65th rank in 2013. 
• Spain is at the top of the list. Japan is the topper among Asian countries whereas Japan holds 4th rank worldwide. 

9th in bribery and corrupt practices in businesses-  EY Europe

• India ranks 9th among top 41 countries of the world – based upon 2016 data - in bribery and corrupt practices in businesses as per the EY Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) Fraud Survey 2017.
• In fact, the ranking has improved by three steps from the 6th rank in 2015. South Africa holds the top position. 

1st in the ICC Test rankings

• India has finished at the top of the ICC Test rankings for the second successive year. 
• South Africa, Australia, England and Pakistan have been placed at  2, 3,  4 and  5 respectively. 

90th in “Global Energy Architecture Performance Index”

• India’s rank improved three places from 90th in the last year to 87th place this year based on “Global Energy Architecture Performance Index” comprising of 18 specific indicators to measure the energy system performance of 127 countries. 
• Bahrain is ranked the lowest at rank 127. Switzerland tops the list. 

131 in Human Development Index

• India ranks at 131 on Human Development Index, Norway No.1 as per the list issued by UN Human Development Report 2016 issued from Stockholm. 
• The list comprises of 188 countries and is based on the calendar year 2015 data. 
• The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite statistic of life expectancy, education, per capita income indicators, and gender equality - which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development. 

122nd in World Happiness Report 2017

• India ranks 122nd in World Happiness Report 2017. 
• In the previous year, the rank of India was 118. The report containing a list of 155 countries was released by the United Nations at an event on March 20, 2017 celebrating International Day of Happiness. 
• World Happiness Data consists of economic, health and polling data compiled by economists that are averaged over three years from 2014 to 2016. 
• As per the report, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Finland are the top five happiest countries of the world respectively. 

Hyderabad is at 144 in Global Ranking- Mercer's Quality of Living Rankings 2017. 

• Hyderabad has best Quality of Living in India, with global rank of 144. 
• New Delhi has been ranked 161. 
• Vienna (Capital of Austria) occupies first place for overall quality of living for the eighth year running - according to Mercer's Quality of Living Rankings 2017. 

130th- World Bank’s Ease of “Doing Business” Rankings

• World Bank’s Ease of “Doing Business” Rankings places India at a lowly 130th position among 190 countries of the world surveyed. 
• The World Bank every year publishes its "Doing Business" report on how easy it is for companies in terms of doing business, as well as following certain regulations based on ten parameters such as starting a business, getting electricity, dealing with construction permits, getting credit, paying taxes, protecting minority investors, resolving insolvency and more. 
• New Zealand, Singapore and Denmark - have been accorded top three positions respectively.
